Today is Wednesday, February 10th a B Day.

Today’s Black History Month highlight is Katherine Johnson. Johnson was a NASA mathematician who played a key role in numerous NASA missions during the Space Race, perhaps most notably calculating the trajectory needed to get the Apollo 11 mission to the moon and back. As a black woman working for NASA in the 1950s and '60s, Johnson overcame social boundaries and racial discrimination. Her impressive career was the subject of the 2016 book and movie "Hidden Figures."

Congratulations to the 9th grade boys' basketball team on their 42-34 win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy! The team finished with 10 wins and 4 losses on the season. The team defense was great all season resulting in the lowest scoring average against them of any team coached by Coach Jennings.

Students who are interested in purchasing a Yearbook for the 2020-21 school year can do so now at the lunch window with Mrs. Baron. Yearbooks are $15. The last day to purchase a yearbook is March 31. See Mrs. Cahill in the library with questions!

Reminder, 9th grade Men’s Tennis meeting tomorrow at 7:30 AM, in room 8. Please be at the meeting so that Coach Suiter can give you information concerning the spring tennis schedule, practice schedule, summer tennis, team uniforms and answer any questions you may have about the program. 

9th graders interested in Women’s Tennis, check Schoology for information on the Zoom meeting February 16th.

All 9th grade girls considering going out for high school golf should stop by the office and add their name to the sign up sheet. Coach Youngkent will add you to the team Schoology page and will email more information to you!
