2026-2027 School Bus Transportation Information
2026-2027 Transportation Request Form
Online registration for the 26/27 school year will open on Monday, June 15, and will close on Thursday, August 13. Any requests after online registration closes will not be guaranteed for the first few weeks of school as our drivers will receive their routes on Tuesday, August 18.
Free bus transportation is provided based on the distance from your resident school and your home address. The distance is determined by the Cedar Falls Schools Transportation Department.
-Elementary Students (K-6):Live more than one mile from school.
-Junior High Students (7-9): Live more than two miles from school.
-High School Students (10-12): Live more than three miles from school.
Bus routing will not automatically transfer from last year. You must submit a new busing request if your student:
-All high school students must apply for transportation each year (those under 3 miles are “paid riders”)
-Students moving from elementary to junior high (6th to 7th grade).
-Requesting a seat as a “paid rider” (elementary students under 1 mile from school, or junior high students under 2 miles from school).
No action is needed if your student(s) rode the bus during 2025-2026 and meets one of these criteria:
-Elementary Students (K-6) living more than one mile from school.
-8th/9th grade junior high student living more than two miles from school.
They will automatically stay on their current route. If your student will not ride the bus in 2026-2027, please inform us by calling the bus garage at 319-553-2458.
Paid Rider Option
After all eligible students have been assigned routes, students living under the minimum distance may apply for transportation as a “Paid Rider”, provided there is available space on the bus. They would be required to go to the closest existing bus stop that services their resident school. The bus pass can be purchased at school and should be presented to the bus driver while loading.
*Please note that if for any reason you were not charged in the past, and your student is not eligible for free transportation, you will be charged going forward. This includes all schools - Elementary, Junior High, and High School.
Open Enrollment and Exceptions
Please note that parents/guardians are responsible for the transportation of students who are open-enrolled or have Rules Exception status.
