Cedar Falls Public Library
Winter Reading Program:
From January 1st to January 31st, Cedar Falls Public Library will participate in Beanstack’s Fourth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, “Book Like Us,” sponsored by Simon and Schuster (S&S). We challenge all our patrons from ages 0-111 to read at least 600 minutes (20 minutes/day) during the month and keep track of their reading on our Beanstack site at cedarfallslibrary.beanstack.org. Thousands of libraries and schools across the nation will encourage their communities to read a target number of minutes and books. Prizes will include book collections and virtual author visits. Ten (10) winning schools or libraries will each get a collection of fifty (50) books from the “Books Like Us” collection. Happy reading, Cedar Falls!

The Cedar Falls Resilience Plan & Framework will be community-based and comprehensive. Community participation in developing the plan is essential, and everyone in the Cedar Falls community is invited to engage through online workshops, town hall meetings, and surveys. The public can participate in shaping the plan through a series of virtual workshops scheduled to start October 20th. All workshops begin at 12:00 (noon) online and include a public Q&A session. A self-guided version of each workshop will open on the day of the workshop, and remain open until November 3rd. Visit the workshop page to learn more about the six specific topics, and when you can virtually meet the Resilience Plan consultants.
