Today is Monday, February 1st an A Day.

Today is the first day of Black History Month! All month long, we will use the morning announcements to highlight notable people of color from our history and the major contributions they’ve made. Our first person to highlight is Mark Dean. Mark Dean co-invented the personal computer! He graduated at the top of his class from the University of Tennessee, and then worked for IBM as a computer scientist. He was one of the original inventors of the IBM personal computer and the color PC monitor. He is also responsible for creating the technology that allows devices, such as keyboards, mice, and printers, to be plugged into a computer and communicate with each other. Dean also managed the team that created the one-gigahertz processor chip.

Students, on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 2nd and 3rd, you will see small groups of teachers engaging in learning together. They may come into your classrooms and observe, taking notes and learning from you and your teacher! By watching each other in the classroom our teachers get better together!

For all 9th graders interested in playing Men’s Tennis for the 2020 season, there will be a meeting before school at 7:30 AM, in Mr. Suiter’s room #8, on Thursday, February 11. Please be at the meeting so that Coach Suiter can give you information concerning the spring tennis schedule, practice schedule, summer tennis, team uniforms, and answer any questions you may have about the program. Again, the meeting will be for 9th graders interested in playing men’s tennis this season, in room #8 at 7:30 AM, in Mr. Suiter’s room #8, on Thursday, February 11.

Congratulations to Sriya Kalala and Mr. Droste! Sriya entered the Iowa Know Your Constitution Contest and was selected as 1 of 60 finalists, and is now in the running for a scholarship! Nice Job and Good Luck! 

Tomorrow, the 9th Grade Boys Basketball team will be dismissed at 2:05, and the 8th Grade Boys Basketball team will be dismissed at 2:35. GO TIGERS!

Today’s lunch will be: Rotini with Meat Sauce with Garlic Breadstick, Bacon Cheeseburger, Oven Fries, Baby Carrots, Apples, and Peaches.
