PEET JUNIOR HIGH DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today is Monday, January 27, an A day.

No KaHoot battles Monday during Tiger Time. Thanks.

Starting Monday, February 3, we will have a Sharing Table in the Cafeteria. The Sharing Table concept is being offered to elementary and junior high schools in the Cedar Falls District.

The Sharing Table is a cart where students can put unopened food or drink items from the hot lunch line that they did not use or want. Then, other students can take things off the cart that they may want. The goal is to waste less food and allow sharing of food.

Eligible items for the sharing table are:

Milk carton, chip bag, yogurt, string cheese, carrot package, applesauce cup, fresh fruit, fruit juice, craisins, condiment packet, raisels, sidekick cup, or similar item.

The process for the sharing table goes as follows:

Only students who purchase a hot lunch can bring an item back to the Share Table cart. They can drop it off at any time before they leave the cafeteria. Any student (hot or cold lunch) can come and take an item from the cart.

Rules for the Share Cart

Items cannot be opened or used

Items must be from the hot lunch line - cannot be from a cold lunch

Items on the table are only for students

Teachers and Para's should not put items on/off the cart

Teachers and Para's should not ask students to put items on the cart - it is voluntary and there is no pressure

8th Grade students, tomorrow we will have hearing checks done by the AEA in the Peet Conference Room.  You will receive a pass in your period 1 class tomorrow with the time of when you need to come to the office for your hearing check.  Please see Mrs. Ruane in the office with questions.

Peet students: this week Student Council is hosting our first ever Teacher/College Initiative! You will notice signs outside each teacher’s classroom showing where they went to college and what degree they earned...these were all stepping stones to get where they are now. You can also learn random facts about various colleges and universities outside the media center. Try to guess what school each random fact is about and look to see the answer underneath the fact. We will have announcements each day this week about the Public, Private and Community colleges, as well as trade schools. Did you know that public colleges are state owned and receive government funding? Tuition, therefore, is typically less than a private college. Public universities are also generally larger in size and student population than private colleges. This may mean larger class sizes but more options for majors and minors to choose from than a private college.

Congratulations to the Peet Science team for a fantastic day at the Science Olympiad competition this Saturday. They won 1st place in Food Science, Elastic Launched Glider, and Ornithology, and 2nd place in Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Detectives, and Density Lab. Overall, the team finished in 3rd place. Great job team Spicy Chex Mix!

Its Gold Star Teacher Time! Time to nominate a teacher who has done a great job! Forms are in the office.

Today’s lunch will be: Shredded Turkey with Gravy, Bacon Cheese Burger or Chicken Nuggets, Dinner Roll, Mashed Potatoes, Green and Red Pepper Strips, Applesauce Cup, Oregon Berry Blend and Carnival Cookie

Happy Birthday today to: Olivia Blake, Sriya Kalala, Kadyn Stuber and Ascher Terpstra-Schwab!
