Harvest Hullabaloo! (https://tinyurl.com/2t237s7r) Our fantastic neighbors, First United Methodist Church, are hosting Harvest Hullabaloo on October 29th from 5:30-7:00 PM!

Halloween Plans for Friday, October 30th - We invite our Preschool, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade students to dress up for our parade wearing school appropriate costumes. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Our 5th and 6th grade students will not dress in costumes. We ask our families to support all students by not including costumes that might scare others, including fake weapons or blood. Please also make sure the costumes allow students to walk independently and up and down our stairs. All classrooms will celebrate Halloween with a classroom party and we will have a parade starting at approximately 2:45 PM! Families will be able to see their students outside as part of our parade unless we have bad weather. If that happens, we will ask families to come inside to our Gym. Once the parade concludes, families may go to individual classrooms for early pickup if desired.

Fall Conferences - We are excited to welcome our families and students for conferences on Monday, November 2nd from 4:00-8:00 PM and Thursday, November 5th from 1:00-8:00 PM. We will hold Family/Teacher conferences to allow families more time to speak with our staff. We hope to have volunteers available in each hallway to allow for private conversations, if needed. We will plan to meet face to face with families, if you would like to meet virtually, please communicate with our teaching staff. Please use these directions to sign up beginning October 16th, our conference scheduler will close on October 30th. (https://tinyurl.com/3nm9pnvp)  If you need help scheduling, you can also call the school at 319.553.2950. It is our goal to meet with every family!

Morning Drop Off Needs - thank you for reading carefully to ensure we are safe and efficient during drop off each morning. Please pull up as far as possible before dropping off. Also, please help our students exit cars quickly and use the sidewalks to walk towards the building or the cross walk to come to the building. Please do not allow our students to cross the traffic! Last, please take care of all hugs and high fives before coming to school as this slows everything down during drop off. Thank you!

Winter Gear (https://tinyurl.com/tnv7549a)  - does your family need help with winter gear? Growing Our Tiger Ten Together!

We are excited to kick off the school year by teaching our students The Tiger Ten—10 skills that help children be successful at school and in life. These skills help children make good choices, get along with others, handle challenges, solve problems, and become confident, independent learners. Families can help by encouraging children to keep trying when something is hard, talk about their feelings and ideas, work through problems, learn from mistakes, and think about what they can do differently next time. When we use the same language at home and at school, we help our students see that these skills are important everywhere!

THE TIGER TEN

Character: Behaving in a way that is respectful to others and responsible for yourself.

Collaboration: Working together to complete tasks or solve problems.

Communication: Effectively listening and sharing thoughts, feelings, or ideas with others.

Creativity: Using your imagination to creatively solve problems, innovate, make art, or tell stories.

Critical Thinking: Gathering information, asking questions, and thinking carefully before making decisions.

Fortitude: Courage, resilience, and grit to keep trying, even when something is hard.

Growth Mindset: Believing that you can learn new skills and get better if you keep trying.

Leadership: Being a helper, taking healthy risks, and showing others how to do the right thing.

Metacognition: Thinking about your thinking and managing your personal needs.

Mindfulness: Self-awareness; noticing what’s happening around you and inside of you.

Thank you for your support! We are looking forward to seeing you again next week!

Respectfully,
