Word Detectives Parade!

Our first grade students celebrated the end of their word detectives unit today! We held a school wide "Word Detectives" parade where they wore headbands with a word they solved using their new skills! We encouraged all of our students to hold up a sign with a word they also solved. Our first graders were extremely happy to celebrate their learning and our school was happy to help! Walk To School Day Was Perfect!

We had a perfect morning for our annual walk to school day! Students, UNI athletes and Blackhawk Hockey players enjoyed a walk from Clay Street and Sartori Park to Lincoln. Walking to school increases physical activity, connects friends and reduces emissions. Thanks to all of our families and volunteers for supporting our students with this fun and healthy activity!

This morning our students and staff celebrated Mrs. P! Mrs. P works as one of our valued paraeducators at Lincoln and we were excited to help congratulate her as she became a Unites States citizen! Our 4th and 5th grade students participated with UNI Fit Kids Day with UNI Athletes and Hy-Vee staff. Students heard from one of UNI's strength and conditioning coaches (Frank Ramanazzi) spoke to our students about the importance of training and sportsmanship. A Debate To Celebrate Our Revolutionary War Learning in 4th Grade!

Our 4th Grade students and families celebrated the end of their unit learning about the Revolutionary War with a debate last Friday! This unit combines reading and writing opportunities around this topic and culminates in a debate between the Patriots and Loyalists. This opportunity for our students to show their learning to their peers and families is an awesome way to mark the end of this unit. Thank You For Supporting The Northeast Iowa Food Bank!

Our students, families and staff are amazing! Led by our Student Lighthouse Team, we were able to make a large donation to the the Northeast Iowa Food Bank this morning! We donated 3,628 food items (1,260 actual food items and $592 in cash donations)! We donated 1,042 pounds of food! We are very proud of both our students as well as the student leaders who helped organize this amazing donation! Please Help Our Students and School With The Fall Fundraiser!

We kicked off our fall fundraiser today! Please check backpacks for a folder which includes a note for the adult to help make this fundraiser a success! Please return all items by October 16th! Join Us for Kale Day on Friday, September 28th!

We have enjoyed a serving from our Farm To School team in all grades this fall. On Friday, September 28th, we will enjoy our annual Kale Day. We will use kale from our gardens as well as from local growers. Our 6th grade students will prepare the kale using the kitchen at First United Methodist Church which we will serve to each grade level in the afternoon. Join Us For Muffins For Moms on Friday, September 28th!

Please join us for Muffins for Moms on Friday, September 28th beginning at 8 AM in our Cafeteria! Our goal is to invite our students to enjoy a quick treat with their Mom (or any family member who is able to join us) before school.
