Did You Know? Missing just 2 days of school a month adds up to 20 days a year—that’s 10% of the school year missed! Chronic absenteeism can make reading and math much harder to master. If you are facing hurdles getting your child to school, please reach out so we can support you.

Walk to School Day will be held on Wednesday, October 14th! Please come and join us for this fun event. Meet at one of the locations below from 8:00-8:10 AM and walk with your Lincoln friends and families. The entire UNI Basketball team, one UNI volleyball athlete and numerous Waterloo Blackhawk athletes are going to lead us on our way to safe walking.
Meeting Locations:
• Corner of Bluff Street and 7th Street
• Clay Street Park - corner of Clay Street and 16th Street
• Sartori Park – corner of College Street and 4th Street

Pack the Bus is coming up October 12th through the 16th! (https://tinyurl.com/3b94pv9n) This fundraiser supports the American Cancer Society, and all donations will go to Hope Lodge, a place where people receiving cancer treatment can stay. We are collecting items like non-perishable food, laundry and dishwasher pods, paper products, food storage containers with lids, and grocery or gas gift cards. Remember, items must be new and not expired! Your donations will also earn points for your class, and the class with the most points will win a Character Party! Even one item can make a difference. Let’s pack the bus!

Morning Drop Off Needs - thank you for reading carefully to ensure we are safe and efficient during drop off each morning. Please pull up as far as possible before dropping off. Also, please help our students exit cars quickly and use the sidewalks to walk towards the building or the cross walk to come to the building. Please do not allow our students to cross the traffic! Last, please take care of all hugs and high fives before coming to school as this slows everything down during drop off. Thank you!
Winter Gear (https://tinyurl.com/tnv7549a) - does your family need help with winter gear? We hope cold weather doesn’t arrive for a long time and we have a very generous organization that helps us help our families with needed gear. Yes, we go outside as much as possible during the cold weather months to enjoy fresh air! If you would like assistance, please complete the link for each member of your family. Thank you!

Growing Our Tiger Ten Together! We are excited to kick off the school year by teaching our students The Tiger Ten—10 skills that help children be successful at school and in life. These skills help children make good choices, get along with others, handle challenges, solve problems, and become confident, independent learners. Families can help by encouraging children to keep trying when something is hard, talk about their feelings and ideas, work through problems, learn from mistakes, and think about what they can do differently next time. When we use the same language at home and at school, we help our students see that these skills are important everywhere!
THE TIGER TEN
Character: Behaving in a way that is respectful to others and responsible for yourself.
Collaboration: Working together to complete tasks or solve problems.
Communication: Effectively listening and sharing thoughts, feelings, or ideas with others.
Creativity: Using your imagination to creatively solve problems, innovate, make art, or tell stories.
Critical Thinking: Gathering information, asking questions, and thinking carefully before making decisions.
Fortitude: Courage, resilience, and grit to keep trying, even when something is hard.
Growth Mindset: Believing that you can learn new skills and get better if you keep trying.
Leadership: Being a helper, taking healthy risks, and showing others how to do the right thing.
Metacognition: Thinking about your thinking and managing your personal needs.
Mindfulness: Self-awareness; noticing what’s happening around you and inside of you.

Thank you for your support! We are looking forward to seeing you again next week!
