Lincoln 3rd Grade students get in for FREE at the Grout Museum on Saturday October 25th! Please tell them you enjoyed Museum School and you can visit the museum for free!

Fall Conferences - We are excited to welcome our families and students for conferences on October 28th (4:15-8:15 PM) and 30th (1:00-8:00 PM). We are moving to Caregiver/Teacher conferences to allow families more time to speak with our staff. If it is possible for caregivers to come without kids, that is our preference. If not, we hope to have volunteers available in each hallway to allow for private conversations. We will plan to meet face to face with families, if you would like to meet virtually, please communicate with our teaching staff. Our conference scheduler has closed so If you need help scheduling, you can also call the school at 319.553.2950. It is our goal to meet with every family!

Safety Drills (https://tinyurl.com/3trdew5s) - Students and staff at all Cedar Falls schools participate in drills to continually improve our Safe School Plan. These drills help make sure everyone understands what to do in a crisis situation. Drills are practiced for fire, tornado, dangerous intruder, and off-site evacuation situations. Classroom teachers explain the purpose of the drill in age-appropriate discussions with students, and drills are clearly identified as only a drill. Attached is a letter describing our planned safety drills for the school year. If you wish to opt your child out of participating in these discussions or drills, please contact your building principal. 

Halloween Plans for Thursday, October 30th - We will celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 30th! We invite our Preschool, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade students to wear costumes to school. This is encouraged, but not required. Our 5th and 6th grade students will not dress in costumes. We ask our families to support all students by not including costumes that might scare others, including fake weapons or blood. All classrooms will celebrate Halloween with a classroom party. Due to the noon dismissal and conferences beginning at 1 PM, we will not hold a parade this school year.

Second Step - During the first quarter of the school year Team Lincoln will learn about growth mindset. Having a growth mindset means believing that our abilities and intelligence can grow with effort, practice, and perseverance. In school, this helps children see challenges as opportunities to learn instead of signs that they "aren’t good at something." When students make mistakes, they begin to understand that mistakes are a normal and important part of learning, not something to fear. By encouraging a growth mindset, we want children to build confidence, stay motivated, and learn to keep trying even when things feel hard.
