New Announcements
Wacky (Not So) Winterfest is coming! We are excited to hold our annual family friendly fun fair and raffle on Saturday, April 30th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM! We are raising funds to buy books for our students and classrooms! There are many ways to help!
- Help your student sell raffle tickets to family and friends! All students brought home an envelope with raffle tickets and an informational letter. Each raffle ticket sold is a chance to win one of ten $100 gift cards to Target, Fareway, Hy Vee, Amazon or Kwik Star! Tickets can be returned to school any morning.
- Volunteer to help at Winterfest! Each shift supports the event and helps our school!
- Donate a case of water! Families can buy lunch at the event and this helps us keep costs low.
Off Site Evacuation Drill - our school will practice evacuating and heading to our primary off site shelter location on Friday, April 22nd at 2 PM. We practice drills throughout the year so we can be ready in the event of an emergency. If the weather prevents us from completing this drill, we will try again on Tuesday, April 26th at 2 PM. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Bryant.
Our All-City Band Concert is on Monday, April 25th at 8:00 pm at the Cedar Falls High School gymnasium! Fifth and sixth grade band students will be performing in this concert.
- Band students will need to arrive at 7:40pm. Please try not to arrive earlier than 7:40, as the "southside" bands will be having their concert before ours, so we need to give them time to pack up and exit the parking lot. The students will put their cases and belongings in the gym behind the competition gymnasium.
- Students (including percussionists) need to bring their own folding stand to this concert. We will not have extra stands available at the high school. Please be sure they have their music and instrument!
- Students must wear dress clothes for this concert. Black/gray/khaki pants and a dress shirt/polo/sweater and dress shoes. Dresses are acceptable if they are to the knee or below (if above the knee, please make sure they are wearing tights/solid leggings underneath).
Note from the Health Office: Parents and Guardians of our Lincoln students, Our Cedar Falls School District Medication Policy says that all medications should be brought to the Health Office by an adult. This is for the safety of all of our kids. Sometimes kids are pressured to "share" pills and want to be "nice" and it can be a difficult and unsafe situation. Please send medications to school with a trusted adult. It does not have to be a parent. Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe! Lori Rasmusson and Brianna Schenkelberg, Lincoln School Nurses
Take Charge Of Your Body - our school will host Take Charge of Your Body during the week of May 2nd-6th. Please carefully review the link with information about the program and complete the permission form. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Jacobsen by phone (553.2977) or email (jennifer.jacobsen@cfschools.org)
Conditions for Learning Survey: Students in Grades 3-6 will be given the Conditions for Learning Survey during the week of April 18th. Notification of this survey was sent prior to Spring Break on March 10th. The state uses this as part of our rating for the State Performance Profile. We would also like parents to take the Parent Survey. This is also used to help us with the State Profile. Staff will also be taking this at our staff meeting. When taking the survey, if your child is in PreK through 5th grade, use the first drop down menu and find Lincoln Elementary in Cedar Falls. If you have a child in sixth grade, use the second drop down menu and choose Lincoln Elementary in Cedar Falls. Thank you!
Please bring your Hy-Vee receipts to the Lincoln office by Tuesday, April 26! They need to be turned in by the end of April. PALS receives several hundred dollars every year through Hy-Vee receipts, and the more we have, the more we earn! Thank you!
Please help us with our Leader In Me work! Each year we share a parent survey to help us measure our work as a Leader In Me school. The results are used to help us set goals each year. (The link is correct!)
Opportunities For Students - Are you beginning to think about opportunities for your children for summer? Please remember to check out our district fliers! Also, please consider opportunities from the Cedar Falls Rec!
General Reminders
Face Coverings - we encourage the continued use of face coverings at school. Our goal is to keep everyone in our school learning! Thank you for helping keep all members of our school community safe!
Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will first dismiss students by grade who ride the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will dismiss at their outside classroom doors, second grade will dismiss onto the east playground, third grade will also dismiss onto the east playground, fourth grade will dismiss using our main entrance doors on 8th street and 5th and 6th grade will dismiss using our 7th street doors. We appreciate families making and following consistent after school plans. Thank you for helping us support safe morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals!
Snacks and Birthday Treats - We are proud to be a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!
See you next week!
