New Announcements
COVID Protocol Reminders - We will notify families of COVID exposures by class and through email. In addition, we will press pause on our plan to bring all groups back to our lunchroom and continue our current practice of students and grades alternating their lunch location (classroom or cafeteria) each week.
Please join us for our next PALS meeting on Tuesday, February 15th! PALS stands for Parents and Lincoln School. This organization is open to all and focuses on building community through communication, education and service. Our team focuses on supporting our students, families, staff and school community. We will meet the second Tuesday of each month (with a few exceptions) at 7:00 PM. Our meeting location will be in our Media Center. The dates we will meet this year include March 1st, April 12th and May 10th. We would welcome your involvement!
Spring Conferences - We are excited to welcome our families and students for student led conferences on March 8th (4:00-8:15) and 10th (1:00-8:00). We ask our students to attend conferences with our families as we work to involve them in sharing their learning. Also, we will allow families to choose if they would like to meet in person or virtually. Please use these directions to sign up between February 11th and March 4th! If you need help scheduling, you can also call the school at 319.553.2950. It is our goal to meet with every student and family!
This is a friendly reminder that we will open our doors for students at 8:30! Please do not allow students to arrive early unless they need to report for Safety Patrol as we do not provide supervision. We want to be sure families have a plan to support student safety due to our recent colder weather.
General Reminders
Face Coverings - we strongly encourage the continued use of face coverings at school. Our goal is to keep everyone in our school learning! Thank you for helping keep all members of our school community safe!
Visitors and Volunteers - we will update you as we plan for visitors and volunteers to return. Thanks for your continued patience!
Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will first dismiss students by grade who ride the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will dismiss at their outside classroom doors, second grade will dismiss onto the east playground, third grade will also dismiss onto the east playground, fourth grade will dismiss using our main entrance doors on 8th street and 5th and 6th grade will dismiss using our 7th street doors. We appreciate families making and following consistent after school plans. Thank you for helping us support safe morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals!
Snacks and Birthday Treats - We are proud to be a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!
See you next week!
