Lincoln Weekly Announcements 2021-02-05
Lincoln Families - We had a short week, please stay warm and safe this weekend!
A few upcoming dates:
2.8 - PALS meeting at 7 PM
2.19 - No school PK-12
Safety Reminders:
We would appreciate having all families wear face masks when dropping off or picking up from school. In addition, please help our students keep them on until you leave our school and school grounds. Thank you!
Face Coverings - please remember that students will be required to have a face covering at school and on the bus. The most recent guidance from our state states that if a student is exposed to a positive case in a community setting such as school and both people are properly wearing masks, the exposed individual would not need to quarantine. This will only apply to students who are wearing masks, not face shields. Our most recent Return To Learn family frequently asked questions document can be found here.
Visitors and Volunteers - to support safety, we will not be able to allow visitors or volunteers to enter our classrooms. We will continue to have adults in the hallway to help our students each morning. In addition, if you come to the building to pick up your child, you can enter the office or call and we will walk the student outside to our visitor parking spots.
Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. Please do not come before 8:30. As our weather gets colder, please plan to arrive after 8:30 as we will not be able to have kids come inside the school early. After 8:30, we will continue to ask students to report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will dismiss students by grade to the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. There will be no after school activities so we will expect students to leave school immediately following dismissal. Thank you for your patience as we work to support student safety each morning and afternoon.

Please join us for the PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) meeting on Monday, February 8th! PALS stands for Parents and Lincoln School. Our parent organization meets on the second Monday of every month and everyone is welcome! This month we will be planning for our upcoming silent auctions and raffle. Our meeting will happen virtually. If you would like to attend, please email Mr. Bryant for the Zoom link and password. Thank you!
Valentine’s Plans - We are planning to celebrate Valentine’s Day at school on Friday, February 12th. Students are welcome to bring valentines and boxes to school by Tuesday, February 9th. If they include treats, we can only hand out store bought, individually prepackaged items. We will safely “quarantine” these items to be handed out on the 12th. If students bring them after the 9th, we will be happy to pass them out the following week. Thank you for supporting our students safely!
Lego League Sign Up - Students interested in being part of a FIRST LEGO League Explore team can use the link below to sign up. Teams will be forming now through February 12. Team meeting formats will follow all guidelines set by schools and may need to adjust to meeting restrictions during the semester. Please contact Kenton Swartley (kenton.swartley@cfschools.org ) with any questions.
FIRST LEGO League Explore: (grades 1-3): Teams consist of 4-6 students and meet for 12 sessions on a weekly schedule. The meeting times are after school or early evening and will be determined once coaches are arranged. Students work as a group to learn about the theme for the year, robots and coding. The team shares their learning at a virtual Expo at the end of the season. Each of our teams will need to have two parent volunteers to serve as coaches and there will be a Zoom session on February 8 at 7:30 PM for parents considering coaching a team. Please use the following link if you are interested in signing your child up for a team. The sign up link: Lincoln Elementary FLL Explore
Dressing for the weather - the colder weather and snow has arrived! We do our best to be outside as much as possible. Please plan to send coats, snow pants, hats, gloves and boots to school to allow students to enjoy recess. We ask students who do not have boots to remain on hard surfaces. If your student needs help with winter gear, please contact their teacher and we will do our best to help.
Please continue to save and collect Hy-Vee receipts! We are able to turn these in and receive a check that Lincoln PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) uses to support our students and staff! Please drop them off at the Lincoln Office OR at 804 West 13th Street. Thank you!
