Lincoln Weekly Announcements 2021-01-22

Lincoln Families - Thank you for a fantastic week!

A few upcoming dates:

1.28 - 6th Grade parent meeting for Holmes at 7 PM (see below for more information)

Safety Reminders:

We would appreciate having all families wear face masks when dropping off or picking up from school. In addition, please help our students keep them on until you leave our school and school grounds. Thank you!

Face Coverings - please remember that students will be required to have a face covering at school and on the bus. The most recent guidance from our state states that if a student is exposed to a positive case in a community setting such as school and both people are properly wearing masks, the exposed individual would not need to quarantine. This will only apply to students who are wearing masks, not face shields. Our most recent Return To Learn family frequently asked questions document can be found here.

Visitors and Volunteers - to support safety, we will not be able to allow visitors or volunteers to enter our classrooms. We will continue to have adults in the hallway to help our students each morning. In addition, if you come to the building to pick up your child, you can enter the office or call and we will walk the student outside to our visitor parking spots.

Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. Please do not come before 8:30. As our weather gets colder, please plan to arrive after 8:30 as we will not be able to have kids come inside the school early. After 8:30, we will continue to ask students to report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will dismiss students by grade to the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. There will be no after school activities so we will expect students to leave school immediately following dismissal. Thank you for your patience as we work to support student safety each morning and afternoon.

Additional Announcements:

The Lincoln Read-A-Thon continues! Thank you for supporting our school by helping your students register and seek donations to support our school. Our immediate goal with the funds we raise is to update the books we use to support reading in our classrooms. If you have any questions about this fundraiser or need help, please ask Mr, Bryant!

Valentine’s Plans - We are planning to celebrate Valentine’s Day at school on Friday, February 12th. Students are welcome to bring valentines and boxes to school by Tuesday, February 9th. If they include treats, we can only hand out store bought, individually prepackaged items. We will safely “quarantine” these items to be handed out on the 12th. If students bring them after the 9th, we will be happy to pass them out the following week. Thank you for supporting our students safely!

Preschool Registration - Registration for Cedar Falls Schools 2021-2022 Preschool will open at Noon on Friday, January 29, 2021. Registration is online at https://www.cfschools.org/parents/preschool.

Parent Meeting For 6th Graders - Holmes Junior High will provide a prerecorded virtual parent meeting on Thursday, January 28th on the Holmes Junior High Counseling website. This is an opportunity to learn about class requirements and options for 7th grade.

Help Us Plan for Kindergarten - would you please complete this survey for your family? These should be returned to our schoolby February 5th. If you need a printed copy, please contact our office and we will help!

Specials Plan For Our Next Cycle - Starting on January 14th and continuing through January 26th, our

Fifth, fourth and first grade students will attend Specials (Art, Music, PE and Media) outside of the classroom. In addition, Kinder, second and third grades will eat in our Cafeteria and attend PE in the Gym.

Dressing for the weather - the colder weather and snow has arrived! We do our best to be outside as much as possible. Please plan to send coats, snow pants, hats, gloves and boots to school to allow students to enjoy recess. We ask students who do not have boots to remain on hard surfaces. If your student needs help with winter gear, please contact their teacher and we will do our best to help.

Please continue to save and collect Hy-Vee receipts! We are able to turn these in and receive a check that Lincoln PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) uses to support our students and staff!  Please drop them off at the Lincoln Office OR at 804 West 13th Street. Thank you!
