Learning opportunities can be found here! In addition, Pack 179 will offer dinner beginning at 6:30. They will offer a $4 meal of hot dog or walking tacos with chili or walking taco with vegetarian chili. All meals will cost $4 and will come with carrots, a cookie, lemonade or water. Please let your child’s teacher know if you plan to eat and how many will be joining you by Friday, October 25th!

Halloween - We will celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 31st! We invite our Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade students to wear costumes for our parade. Our 5th and 6th grade students will not dress in costumes. Please do not have the students come to school in the costume. We appreciate costumes that can be easily worn over school clothes. Please support all students by not including costumes that will scare others or include fake weapons. We will begin at approximately 3:00 PM. If weather allows, we will go outside and around the building. If not, we will parade inside the building. Our class parties will happen between 2 and 3 PM. The times will be shared by classroom teachers. Please join us if you are able!

Red Ribbon Week - Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation.  The national theme for Red Ribbon Week this year is “Send a Message: Stay Drug Free”  We will focus on making healthy choices through a variety of classroom lessons and activities.  This year, we will have several “special days” to remind students of the importance of making healthy choices.

October 28th –“Wear Red Day” – wear something red to school

October 29th  – “Lincoln is Drug Free” – wear Lincoln or CF gear to show school pride

October 30th   – “Sock it to Drugs Day” – wear crazy/mismatched socks

October 31st  – “Say ‘Boo’ to Drugs” – we will celebrate Halloween with a parade and parties

November 1st – “Put a Cap on Drugs” – students may wear hats to school

We are looking forward to meeting with you for Fall Conferences on November 12th and 14th! The parent window to schedule conferences is open at midnight on October 28th-November 8th. Please see the parent instructions for step by step directions for scheduling.

Kale Day! Lincoln students had a visit from the Farm to School Program today.  They tried kale chips baked by the 6th graders. See the attached handout about what they learned and for follow-up questions for your student.

Family Game Night  - LIncoln PALS will host a family game night on Monday, November 4th from 5:30-7:30 PM in our Cafeteria. This is a family event where you can bring a game and plan to learn about new games.

Book Fair - Our book fair is coming & we need volunteers! The sign up is at bit.ly/lnbookfair or you can sign up on the library's Instagram page @lincolnlibrarycf We need LOTS of people to help with set up, classroom previews, selling books & packing up the fair when it's over. All profits go directly towards buying books for our library!

Reminders:

This is a friendly reminder that our school and breakfast opens each morning at 8:30. Students should not be dropped off at school or on our playgrounds before this time. In addition, we are asking for families to help our students build independence by letting them walk to their classroom on their own. Following dismissal, students should be picked up or go directly home. Unless under direct supervision of an adult, they cannot be on our playgrounds until after 4:15.

Student Directory - PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) offers our students and families an opt in directory to allow families to share information for invitations and play dates outside of school. If you would like to join or update information, please use these directions. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Bryant!

Cedar Falls Home Football Games Elementary students must be accompanied and supervised by adult chaperones during the game. They should be sitting in the stands and not hanging out or running around in the concourse area.
