Holmes Students Show off Constitution Knowledge

Know Your Constitution

A group of virtual and in-person students participated in a Know Your Constitution competition, put on by the Iowa State Bar Association based in Des Moines, IA. The program is open to 9th through 12th graders throughout the state of Iowa.

Students are tasked with completing a 50 question quiz that covers the United States Constitution. Students also had the opportunity to write a short essay, answering the hypothetical question: Should convicted felons be able to vote later on in their lives? Students had to dig deep in their Constitutional knowledge to answer this question.

This year, there were 500 student participants, and of those 60 finalists were recognized via an Online Ceremony.

Three Holmes students were selected as finalists:

  • Sai Pranav Kota

  • Param Sampat

  • Taylor Johnson

Notably, Param’s essay was selected as the best of all 500 entries this year. Holmes is happy to congratulate all three of our student finalists on their success in this year’s competition!
