Holmes students will be taking the ISASP (Iowa State Assessment of Student Progress)  starting March 30. Students in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade will take the reading, language and writing, and math assessments. Eighth grade students will also take a science assessment. This is a very important week for our students and our school. Spring Break is March 16-20, 2026. When school resumes on Monday March 23 it will be a "B" day. School will start at 9:30 a.m. and follow the normal Monday/Late Start schedule. 

Cedar Falls had a fantastic day at the MathCounts competition and NINE students from Holmes, Peet, and Hansen qualified for state. Holmes/Hansen placed four students (Pradeep, Wanner, Sebree, & Schmidt) in the top ten, and five (Pradeep, Wanner, Sebree, Schmidt, and Juza) are headed to the state competition. Spring conferences are just around the corner. Mark your calendars for your Holmes Junior High conferences: Tuesday March 10 from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday March 12 from 12:30-7:00 p.m. Holmes will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. on March 12 and there is no school on Friday March 13. Spring Break is the following week from March 16-20.
