Penny War Results: Holmes Donated Over 7,000 Meals to Food Bank

Holmes Jr. High Students competed against one another in the annual Penny War!

Students competed within their first hour classes, seeing who could raise the most money in one week. Coins and bills would raise the class's point value, whereas pennies would take away from their total. Classes needed to strategize in order to keep their silver and dollars high, while avoiding being Penny Bombed by other classes if they were ahead.

The winning classes were as follows:

1st Place: Mrs. Heine | $284.36

2nd Place: Mr. Mork | $204.41

3rd Place: Mrs. McCabe/Mrs. Benitez/Mrs. Keough | $181.48

As a school, Holmes raised a total $1,894.80, which will go to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, where they will turn that money into over 7,500+ meals for needy and hungry families! Holmes' goal was to donate 7,500 meals, which they  met during the short week!

Great job Holmes Junior High!
