Holmes Student Britain Atkins (7th) Wins State Spelling Bee

Holmes Jr. High 7th Grader Britain Atkins competed in the State Knights of Colombus Spelling Bee this past weekend and ended up taking first prize!

The state spelling bee comes after a long process of competitions. Competitors must first survive their local and regional spelling bee competitions in order to qualify for the State Contest. Only the top 2 from each competition move on.

At the State Competition, Atkins endured 1.5 hours of intense spelling, outlasting the rest of his competitors, and took home the championship. We congratulate Britain on this honor and commend his hard work, diligence, and P-E-R-S-E-V-E-R-A-N-C-E!
