Meet at one of the locations below to walk with your Lincoln friends and families. UNI athletes and Waterloo Blackhawk athletes are going to lead us on our way to safe walking. We will meet between 7:50 and 8:00 AM. Our meeting locations include: the corner of Bluff Street and 7th Street, Clay Street Park at the corner of Clay Street and 16th Street, Sartori Park at the corner of College Street and 4th Street.

Safety Drills (https://tinyurl.com/3trdew5s) - Students and staff at all Cedar Falls schools participate in drills to continually improve our Safe School Plan. These drills help make sure everyone understands what to do in a crisis situation. Drills are practiced for fire, tornado, dangerous intruder, and off-site evacuation situations. Classroom teachers explain the purpose of the drill in age-appropriate discussions with students, and drills are clearly identified as only a drill. Attached is a letter describing our planned safety drills for the school year. If you wish to opt your child out of participating in these discussions or drills, please contact your building principal.

Winter Gear (https://tinyurl.com/2xmszkdc)  - does your family need help with winter gear? We hope cold weather doesn’t arrive for a long time and we have a very generous organization that helps us help our families with needed gear. Yes, we go outside as much as possible during the cold weather months to enjoy fresh air! If you would like assistance, please complete the link for each member of your family. Thank you!

As we start to see cooler weather, we would like to share our recess guidelines with families to help our students be prepared! (https://tinyurl.com/mrdjtxcd

Second Step - During the first quarter of the school year Team Lincoln will learn about growth mindset. Having a growth mindset means believing that our abilities and intelligence can grow with effort, practice, and perseverance. In school, this helps children see challenges as opportunities to learn instead of signs that they "aren’t good at something." When students make mistakes, they begin to understand that mistakes are a normal and important part of learning, not something to fear. By encouraging a growth mindset, we want children to build confidence, stay motivated, and learn to keep trying even when things feel hard. This mindset helps them not only in academics but also in building resilience and problem-solving skills they will use throughout their lives. Learn how you can support this at home!
