A few important dates and announcements for your planning:

8.25 - Early release at 1:50 PM

8.28 - Early release at 1:50 PM, Input Conferences 2:15-6:15 PM

8.29 - We will dismiss at 3:45 PM 

8.30 - 1st day for our Preschool students, Early release at 1:50 PM (This will happen each Wednesday moving forward, please mark your calendars for pickup!)

8.31 - We will dismiss at 3:45 PM

9.1 - Noon Dismissal

9.4 - Labor Day, no school!

Input Conferences - Input conferences will be held again on  August 28th from 2:15 - 6:15 PM. Input conferences are an opportunity for parents to speak with your child's classroom teacher to share your child's strengths, interests, concerns, and goals for the upcoming school year. This year parents will schedule input conferences through the PowerSchool Parent portal. This is the same portal used to complete registration. All kindergarten and new to District families should have received an email with directions to create your parent portal account. If you need assistance creating your account, please call the Lincoln office, email powerhelp@cfschools.org or call our PowerSchool Support line at 319-553-3004. To schedule your child’s input conference, please do the following: 

• Click here to login to your PowerSchool Parent Portal

• Click Parent/Teacher Conferences in the left navigation column

• Click "Input Conferences"

• Select your child's classroom teacher from the drop-down menu

• Enter your email address next to the date and time you wish to schedule your conference

• Click Save

• If you have multiple elementary children, select their name in a tab at the top and repeat the steps above to schedule an input conference for each enrolled child

• To delete the reservation, refresh the page and click the red minus button to the right of a reservation under “My Reservations”

FIRST LEGO League Parent Meeting! There will be a virtual parent meeting for those interested in signing their students up for a FIRST LEGO League team. There will be two options for attendance:

FIRST LEGO League Explore (grades 1-3): Teams consist of 4-6 students and meet for 12 weeks in the Fall or Spring. Students work as a group to learn about the theme for the year, robotics, and coding. The team shares their learning at an Expo at the end of the season.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge (grades 4-6): Teams consist of 5-10 students and meet throughout the Fall. Students work as a group to research a topic related to the theme for the year and program a robot they have built to complete missions. The team participates in an FLL Qualifier at the end of the season. Please contact Kayla McIntyre (flldirector@cfschools.org) with any questions.

Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms or to the cafeteria for breakfast if needed. At the end of the day, we will dismiss students beginning with Kindergarten and moving through 6th grade. Our staff will walk students to the door. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will dismiss at their outside classroom doors, second grade will dismiss onto the east playground, third grade will also dismiss onto the east playground, fourth grade will dismiss using our main entrance doors on 8th street and 5th and 6th grade will dismiss using our 7th street doors. We appreciate families making and following consistent after school plans. We will not have supervision for students prior to 8:30 AM each morning. Thank you for helping us support safe morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals!

Main Street Construction - due to construction on Main Street, students will be able to cross at 7th and Main Street. They will mark the area with cones to help! We will communicate any changes!

Wednesday Early Dismissal - we dismiss every Wednesday at 1:50 PM. Please be sure to set a reminder to pick up students promptly. Our staff use this time to collaborate to support learning for our students.

Snacks and Birthday Treats - We are proud to be a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!
