New Announcements

Are you ready for the return of Wacky (Not So) Winterfest? The annual Wacky Winterfest Fun Fair and Raffle Fundraiser will be held this year on Saturday, April 30th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We are excited to have our yearly family friendly school carnival return! The event is an opportunity to help us raise funds to support our school. Our current goal is to raise money to buy books to be used to support reading instruction for our students. Our students will have the chance to sell raffle tickets to friends and family for prizes as well! Please consider volunteering to help our event by clicking on the link above!

Please join us for our next PALS meeting on Tuesday, April 12th! PALS stands for Parents and Lincoln School. This organization is open to all and focuses on building community through communication, education and service. Our team focuses on supporting our students, families, staff and school community. We meet the second Tuesday of each month (with a few exceptions) at 7:00 PM. Our meeting location will be in our Media Center. Our next meeting will be May 10th. We would welcome your involvement!

Dance Marathon! Lincoln is holding a mini dance marathon again! During the week of April 4th-8th students can purchase $1 paper hearts in the morning right outside the office. After purchasing a heart, students can put their name on it or a friend’s name on it and hang it on the wall near the office. The money will go to the Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. If a student can’t donate, it’s okay! All students will celebrate the fact that we are donating to such a great cause when dancing at our mini dance marathon on April 12th (during the school day).

Conditions for Learning Survey:  Students in Grades 3-6 will be given the Conditions for Learning Survey during the week of April 18th. Notification of this survey was sent prior to Spring Break on March 10th. The state uses this as part of our rating for the State Performance Profile. We would also like parents to take the Parent Survey. This is also used to help us with the State Profile. Staff will also be taking this at our staff meeting. When taking the survey, if your child is in PreK through 5th grade, use the first drop down menu and find Lincoln Elementary in Cedar Falls. If you have a child in sixth grade, use the second drop down menu and choose Lincoln Elementary in Cedar Falls. Thank you!

Please help us with our Leader In Me work! Each year we share a parent survey to help us measure our work as a Leader In Me school. The results are used to help us set goals each year.

Opportunities For Students - Are you beginning to think about opportunities for your children for summer? Please remember to check out our district fliers! Also, please consider opportunities from the Cedar Falls Rec!

Food Service Survey - To help our food service planning, please fill out this quick survey for each child you have in elementary. The survey will close Friday, April 8.

Please help us with our lunch order! If your student has an appointment and will arrive at school late, please let the office know before 9 AM what they would like for lunch. Thank you!

General Reminders

Face Coverings - we encourage the continued use of face coverings at school. Our goal is to keep everyone in our school learning! Thank you for helping keep all members of our school community safe!

Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will first dismiss students by grade who ride the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will dismiss at their outside classroom doors, second grade will dismiss onto the east playground, third grade will also dismiss onto the east playground, fourth grade will dismiss using our main entrance doors on 8th street and 5th and 6th grade will dismiss using our 7th street doors. We appreciate families making and following consistent after school plans. Thank you for helping us support safe morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals!

Snacks and Birthday Treats - We are proud to be a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!

See you next week!
