New Announcements

COVID Protocol Changes -We would like to share some upcoming changes to our current protocols around COVID. We will continue to closely monitor positive cases, please continue to communicate with the school if your students are experiencing any symptoms. All plans are subject to change pending rising cases. Here are our upcoming changes:

Lunchroom: Starting on Monday, February 21st, we will begin a two week transition to having all students eat in the lunchroom each day. By Monday, March 7th we will have all students eating in the cafeteria each day. We will not allow adult visitors during our lunch times.

Mixed grade level groups: We will begin allowing students from different grade levels to work together for activities such as pairing our buddy classrooms on Monday, February 21st.

Volunteers: We anticipate welcoming volunteers into our school to support instruction beginning on Tuesday, March 1st. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form and submit it to Mr. Bryant.

COVID Exposures: We will continue to notify families of COVID exposures by class and through email.

Thank you for working with us as we work to support student health and safety!

Spring Conferences - We are excited to welcome our families and students for student led conferences on March 8th (4:00-8:15) and 10th (1:00-8:00). We ask our students to attend conferences with our families as we work to involve them in sharing their learning. Also, we will allow families to choose if they would like to meet in person or virtually. Please use these directions to sign up between February 11th and March 4th! If you need help scheduling, you can also call the school at 319.553.2950. It is our goal to meet with every student and family!

This is a friendly reminder that we will open our doors for students at 8:30! Please do not allow students to arrive early unless they need to report for Safety Patrol as we do not provide supervision. We are asking that students who arrive by car remain in their vehicles until 8:30. If your child walks to school, they should not arrive before 8:30 AM.

PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) Virtual Silent Auction - we will host a virtual silent auction using our Lincoln Facebook page from February 25th and 28th. We will be raising money to support book purchases for our school and classrooms. Please follow us on Facebook and respond going or interested to the event. We also suggest making sure to see all comments to ensure you have a chance to bid on the amazing baskets being created by our grade levels!

Please join us for our next PALS meeting on Tuesday, March 1st! PALS stands for Parents and Lincoln School. This organization is open to all and focuses on building community through communication, education and service. Our team focuses on supporting our students, families, staff and school community. We will meet the second Tuesday of each month (with a few exceptions) at 7:00 PM. Our meeting location will be in our Media Center. The dates we will meet this year include April 12th and May 10th. We would welcome your involvement!

General Reminders

Face Coverings - we strongly encourage the continued use of face coverings at school. Our goal is to keep everyone in our school learning! Thank you for helping keep all members of our school community safe!

Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will first dismiss students by grade who ride the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will dismiss at their outside classroom doors, second grade will dismiss onto the east playground, third grade will also dismiss onto the east playground, fourth grade will dismiss using our main entrance doors on 8th street and 5th and 6th grade will dismiss using our 7th street doors. We appreciate families making and following consistent after school plans. Thank you for helping us support safe morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals!

Snacks and Birthday Treats - We are proud to be a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!

See you next week!
