New Announcements
COVID Protocol Changes - We wanted to share some upcoming changes to our current protocols around COVID. Following Winter Break, our district and each school will continue to monitor positive cases and may adjust these plans, if needed. We will work to move our students back into the cafeteria to eat each day by January 18th. In addition, we also anticipate welcoming volunteers back into our buildings following January 18th. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form and submit it to your building Principal. Last, at this time, we are not planning to allow adult visitors during our lunch times. Thank you for working with us as we work to support student health and safety!
Are you ready for the return of Wacky Winterfest? The annual Wacky Winterfest Fun Fair and Raffle Fundraiser will be held this year on February 19, 2022 at Lincoln Elementary School. We are excited to have our yearly family friendly school carnival return! The event is an opportunity to help us raise funds to support our school. Our current goal is to raise money to buy books to be used to support reading instruction for our students. Our students will have the chance to sell raffle tickets to friends and family for prizes as well! Please read the attached letter for more information and opportunities to help!
Lincoln Spirit Gear Sale! When we return in January, we will offer the opportunity to purchase the items in the flyer!
Dressing for the weather - We will enjoy outside recess if the temperature or wind chill is above zero. Please carefully watch the forecast and send students to school with clothing that will allow them to enjoy recess. If your student needs help with winter gear, please contact their teacher and we will do our best to help.
Our Mitten Tree is ready! Our school has an annual tradition of supporting our students and families for the holidays. We have a small Christmas tree in our office with mittens. Each mitten is an opportunity to provide a gift to a deserving Lincoln student or family member. We are requesting that all gifts are wrapped and turned in to the Lincoln Office by December 20th for delivery!
Join us for some fun holiday themed dress up days! Please feel free to participate in these optional days!
Enrollment forms - earlier this week we sent home this form with the youngest or only student for each family. Please help us begin planning for 2022-2023 by returning this to school on or before Friday, December 17th.
PALS Meeting Notes - please click here for our PALS meeting notes from last Monday night.
Open Food Service Positions! The Cedar Falls school district is now hiring for the food service positions. Looking for a person that is a team player! The positions are Monday through Friday during school hours. There are no nights, weekends, winter break, spring break and summers are off. Please consider applying here.
General Reminders
Face Coverings - we strongly encourage the continued use of face coverings at school. Our goal is to keep everyone in our school learning! Thank you for helping keep all members of our school community safe!
Visitors and Volunteers - as stated above, we are planning to allow volunteers to begin in our school following January 18th. Please plan to complete the volunteer app
to support safety, we will not be able to allow families to enter our classrooms as the school year begins. On the first day of school, we will have staff available to help our students find their classrooms as they enter the building. Thank you for saying goodbye at the door! In addition, if you come to the building to pick up your child, you can enter the office or call and we will walk the student outside to our visitor parking spots.
Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will first dismiss students by grade who ride the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will dismiss at their outside classroom doors, second grade will dismiss onto the east playground, third grade will also dismiss onto the east playground, fourth grade will dismiss using our main entrance doors on 8th street and 5th and 6th grade will dismiss using our 7th street doors. We appreciate families making and following consistent after school plans. Thank you for helping us support safe morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals!
Snacks and Birthday Treats - We are proud to be a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!
See you next week!
