3.15-3.19 - Spring Break, no school!

Safety Reminders:

Our school and school district will maintain our safety procedures regarding masks, hand washing and regular cleaning.

We would appreciate having all families wear face masks when dropping off or picking up from school. In addition, please help our students keep them on until you leave our school and school grounds. Thank you!

Face Coverings - please remember that students will be required to have a face covering at school and on the bus. The most recent guidance from our state states that if a student is exposed to a positive case in a community setting such as school and both people are properly wearing masks, the exposed individual would not need to quarantine. This will only apply to students who are wearing masks, not face shields. Our most recent Return To Learn family frequently asked questions document can be found here.

Visitors and Volunteers - to support safety, we will not be able to allow visitors or volunteers to enter our classrooms. We will continue to have adults in the hallway to help our students each morning. In addition, if you come to the building to pick up your child, you can enter the office or call and we will walk the student outside to our visitor parking spots.

Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. Please do not come before 8:30. As our weather gets colder, please plan to arrive after 8:30 as we will not be able to have kids come inside the school early. After 8:30, we will continue to ask students to report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will dismiss students by grade to the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. There will be no after school activities so we will expect students to leave school immediately following dismissal. Thank you for your patience as we work to support student safety each morning and afternoon.

Additional Announcements:

We are looking forward to meeting with you for Virtual Conferences on March 9th and 11th! We will continue to hold our conferences via Zoom. The parent window to schedule conferences will open on Friday, February 19th and remain available through midnight on March 8th. Please see the parent instructions for step by step directions for scheduling. If you need help, please contact our office and we are happy to help! Also, we will send families the Zoom links for each teacher on Monday, March 8th. This will allow families to easily find the needed information to attend conferences virtually at their scheduled time.

Please join us for the PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) meeting on Monday, March 1st! PALS stands for Parents and Lincoln School. This month we will be planning for our upcoming silent auctions and raffle. Our meeting will happen virtually. If you would like to attend, please email Mr. Bryant for the Zoom link and password. Thank you!

Virtual Learning - Because we have now had three snow days the district plans to transition all students and staff to virtual learning on any future snow days. If weather may cause us not to be able to physically attend school, we will send home student devices and chargers to allow students to virtually attend school. We will also share all needed Zoom links for our students to attend class. Here is our planned schedule for virtual days if needed:

 - 8:45-9:00: Attendance, Morning Meeting

 - 9:00-9:30: Math

 - 9:30-9:35: Brain Break

 - 9:35-10:15: Reading

 - 10:30-12:00: Small group instruction

 - 1:00-3:00: Asynchronous Learning (Independent work will be provided for students and staff would be available for questions)

Our goal is to support our students and families even when we cannot be together in the building!

SAEBRS - We completed the SAEBRS (Social, Academic and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener) for all of our students. In addition, we will allow students in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th to complete the student tool as well. Please see the link for the parent information letter and if you do not wish for your student to complete, please contact Mr. Bryant by phone (319.553.2950) or email (ralph.bryant@cfschools.org) before Friday, February 26th.

Please continue to save and collect Hy-Vee receipts! We are able to turn these in and receive a check that Lincoln PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) uses to support our students and staff!  Please drop them off at the Lincoln Office OR at 804 West 13th Street. Thank you!

Dressing for the weather - the colder weather and snow has arrived! We do our best to be outside as much as possible. Please plan to send coats, snow pants, hats, gloves and boots to school to allow students to enjoy recess. We ask students who do not have boots to remain on hard surfaces. If your student needs help with winter gear, please contact their teacher and we will do our best to help.
