Lincoln Weekly Announcements 2020-10-02
Lincoln Families - We had an awesome week!
A few upcoming dates:
10.12 - PALS meeting at 7 PM
10.16 - No school for students in Preschool through 12th grade
10.23 - AEA Hearing Tests 8:00-10:30 AM
10.30 - Noon Dismissal for students (we will serve lunch before dismissal)
Safety Reminders:
Face Coverings - please remember that students will be required to have a face covering at school. OUr Governor made changes to exposure procedures this week. If a student is exposed to a positive case in a community setting such as school and both people are properly wearing masks, the exposed individual would not need to quarantine. Our most recent Return To Learn family frequently asked questions document can be found here.
Visitors and Volunteers - to support safety, we will not be able to allow visitors or volunteers to enter our classrooms. We will continue to have adults in the hallway to help our students each morning. In addition, if you come to the building to pick up your child, you can enter the office or call and we will walk the student outside to our visitor parking spots.
Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. Please do not come before 8:30. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will dismiss students by grade to the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. There will be no after school activities so we will expect students to leave school immediately following dismissal. Thank you for your patience as we work to support student safety each morning and afternoon.
Additional Announcements:
In-Person to Virtual Request - If you would like to request a transfer from in-person learning to our virtual campus, please take this survey. Please do not fill this out if you plan to stay with the current mode of in-person learning. The deadline for this survey will be Friday, October 9th at noon.
We need your help! Our District Equity Committee would like to gather student input as we seek to provide a safe school environment for all of our students. We would like families of students currently in grades 2nd through 6th grade to complete this survey together between September 25th and October 9th. In addition, we have prepared this frequently asked questions (FAQ) document to provide answers to your questions. Please contact Mr. Bryant with any questions. Thank you!
Specials Plan For Our Next Cycle - We will continue to have one morning and afternoon class attend Art, Music and Media outside of their classroom. Our plan for the next four day cycle will be to have our fifth grade in the morning and second grade in the afternoon. We will continue to share this opportunity with each grade level each cycle.
The Cedar Falls Schools works diligently to minimize the use of pesticides in school buildings and on school grounds. Periodically, we do spray turf areas surrounding school buildings. We wanted to notify parents, students and staff that this will occur at your school building at a time this upcoming weekend when no students are there. The contractor will post flags after the areas are treated and visitors to the site should stay off treated turf areas for 24 hours or until the flags are removed.
Noon Dismissal on October 30th - we will dismiss at noon on Friday, October 30th. We will offer a sack lunch. Please communicate your order to your child’s teacher(s).
Backpack Program - Lincoln Elementary is partnering with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank to provide the BackPack Program to students during the 2020-2021 school year. The BackPack Program is a free program that provides kid-friendly, non-perishable food for students most in need to eat over weekends and breaks when school meals are not available and there may be little or no food to eat. Please carefully consider your family’s economic status and determine if this program is something needed by your child(ren). If the BackPack Program is something your family depends upon, please complete the registration form.
Box Tops For Education - Box Tops is one of many ways our school raises money to support our students and staff! Please click on the link for a simple explanation of how to help!
Student Directory - PALS (Parents and Lincoln School) offers our students and families an opt in directory to allow families to share information for invitations and play dates outside of school. If you would like to join or update information, please use these directions. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Bryant!
2019-2020 Yearbooks - You may purchase one in our office for $15.
Have a great weekend!
