Academics Lincoln ElementaryLincoln Families - we hope this message finds your family enjoying healthy and safe summer activities! As we prepare for the start of the school year, I will share that I will send a Friday message each week to our families. In addition to email, I will post these messages on our school website as well as on our social media. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I wanted to share updates with you.
A few important dates and announcements to begin the year for your planning:

8.25 - 1:50 Dismissal, Virtual Input Conferences from 2:15-6:15
8.26 - 1:50 Dismissal
8.27 - 1:50 Dismissal, Virtual Input Conferences from 2:15-6:15
8.28 - 1:50 Dismissal
9.7 - No School, Labor Day
Face Coverings - please remember that students will be required to have a face covering or a shield while at school. The latest guidance from Black Hawk County Public Health states that either can be worn. It also states that if a staff or student plans to work in close proximity with others and are wearing a shield, they should plan to also wear a mask underneath. We appreciate your help discussing this and practicing at home before school starts. Our most recent Return To Learn family frequently asked questions document can found here.
Teacher Assignments - we have been working to honor the needs of our families opting for face to face and online learning this fall. As a result, we are continuing to finalize both staff and student assignments. Families will receive teacher assignments for each students via email on Tuesday, August 18th.
Backpack Night - we will not be able to hold Backpack Night this school year to support safety. This event is usually an opportunity to come to the building, meet our teachers and drop off supplies. Please plan for students to bring their supplies in their backpacks on our first day of school.
First Day Of School - to support student and staff safety, our staff will be available to help our students find their classes on the first day of school. We will have staff outside as well as in our hallways beginning at 8:30 AM. We request that our students and families wear face coverings or shields as they approach the building. We will not allow family members to enter the building with their students. We know this will be tough and promise we will help all students arrive in their classrooms!
Virtual Input Conferences - we will ask our families to attend Input Conferences virtually this school year. This opportunity allows us to meet with families to learn about how to best support each student. We will provide directions to this system next week.
Visitors and Volunteers - to support safety, we will not be able to allow families to enter our classrooms as the school year begins. On the first day of school, we will have staff available to help our students find their classrooms as they enter the building. Thank you for saying goodbye at the door! In addition, if you come to the building to pick up your child, you can enter the office or call and we will walk the student outside to our visitor parking spots.
Arrival And Dismissal - we are working to help our students safely enter and leave the building. In the morning, we will ask students to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. They will report to their classrooms. At the end of the day, we will dismiss students by grade to the bus. Following this, we will dismiss students who are picked up or walk home. Our staff will walk students to the door. There will be no after school activities so we will expect students to leave school immediately following dismissal. Thank you for your patience as we work to support student safety each morning and afternoon. Please plan for the process to take longer than in the past.
Water Bottles - Our water fountains throughout the building have been disabled. Students are welcome to use our bottle filler stations to refill water bottles brought from home.
Student Supplies - Please label student supplies with first and last names please. Our supply lists can be found here.
Snacks and Birthday Treats - please remember we are a Blue Zones school and encourage healthy choices when students bring food for their daily snack. In addition, to support safety this school year when celebrating birthdays, we will ask for families to bring prepackaged items to minimize handling. Thank you!
Thank you for your support as we begin a new and unique school year. We can’t wait to see you!
Respectfully,
Ralph Bryant
