Wittmer Awarded 2020 Middle School Counselor of the Year

Holmes Junior High is proud to announce that our very own Angela Wittmer has been recognized as the 2020 Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Iowa School Counselors Association.

In her tenure at Holmes, Ms. Wittmer has been a staple for students and faculty alike. She has been a passionate go-to for everyone in the building. Her no-nonsense attitude encourages students to try their best in all situations. Wittmer’s positivity can easily make the most tired of students perk up and smile as they enter the building or their classrooms.

Ms. Wittmer has worked to install important building programs such as the Social Emotional Learning school-wide programming as well as the 8th Grade Boys Leadership event. Wittmer’s work at Holmes has proved to be student- and solution-oriented. She is willing to do the work to recognize the issues in schools and put in even more effort to find the solution that will best help students.

Wittmer, this year, transferred from her role as a counselor into the Success Center Coordinator role, where she is able to work one-on-one with students and problem-solve with them for their schoolwork and personal growth.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Wittmer on our team to serve our students and we are extremely excited for her award! Congratulations, Ms. Wittmer!
