Today we are going to talk about Ida B Wells….2/23 - Ida B Wells was a prominent journalist, activist, and researcher in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born during the Civil War, Ms. Wells grew to be a journalist in Memphis, Tennessee, where she would cover stories of White mobs and lynchings, which would anger her community. Throughout her life, she did important work to shed light on the lynchings of Black Americans. She would go overseas and educate people in foreign countries about the realities of what was happening in the United States. She assisted in the creation of organizations such as the National Association of Colored Women’s Club and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She died in 1931.
