Student Life Holmes Junior High

Today we are going to talk about Ruby Bridges…. Ruby Bridges was the first Black student to desegregate the New Orleans school district. At just six years old, she was the first Black student to enter the all-white William Frantz Elementary School. She and her mother were escorted to school by Federal court marshalls in order to ensure their safety. Ruby grew up to be a nurse and, in 1999, founded the Ruby Bridges Foundation, which promotes tolerance and change in education. She is still alive today!

Any 7th or 8th grade girls who are interested in participating in track and field this spring, but missed the meetings last week are welcome to stop in Miss Fjerstad's room (room 9) this week.

Any 9th grade girls interested in going out for tennis this spring should attend an informational meeting Thursday, during Tiger Time in the front office.
