Student Life Holmes Junior HighThere will be no ECHOES or ALT this week (October 26 - October 29) due to Parent/Teacher Conferences.
This week we celebrate Red Ribbon Week. This week brings awareness to drug, tobacco, and alcohol abuse. Red Ribbon Week started when Agent Kiki Camarna was murdered by drug traffickers while he was investigating the drug dealers. During Red Ribbon Week you can think about some choices that you can make to stay away from drugs and alcohol. This year's theme for Red Ribbon Week is Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free.
There is a Student Council Meeting today in Ms. Fjerstad's classroom during Tiger Time. See you there.
Your Social Studies Teachers would like to thank all students who voted in the Iowa Youth Straw Poll. All races were very close. The candidates receiving the most votes at Holmes were for President Donald Trump with 51 %, for Senate Theresa Greenfield with 51 % and for the US House of Representatives Abby Finkenauer with 52 % of the cast ballots . We now will see how our results compare with those around the state and next week against the nation. Thanks to all who helped and participated!
