Schedule Corrections Proceedures

Schedule correction procedures will be implemented for the ‘26-’27 school year. These procedures allow for consistency amongst school counselors, equitability for all 1,300 students, and time for school counselors to meet other needs of students. Please see schedule correction procedures below:

Schedule Correction Procedures

Students should select courses carefully with the assistance of their families, teachers and the Counseling Office. Requests for course changes should be the EXCEPTION.

Schedules are NOT adjusted for the following reasons:

  • Preference for a different teacher
  • Preference for a different period or semester.
  • Preference to be with friends in class
  • Preference for a different lunch shift
  • Rearranging class order for release or different lunch

Students spent multiple days working with teachers and counselors on their course requests and the master schedule was developed based upon those requests. Based on all students’ requests, the acceptable reasons for schedule corrections are:

  • Adding a course to replace an open period
  • Adding a course due to change in post-secondary plan
  • Course in incorrect sequence or scheduling error
  • Dropping a course
  • Duplication of courses
  • Lacking a required course for graduation or grade level
  • Misplacement due to inappropriate skill level for class
  • Not meeting a prerequisite or teacher approval
  • Re-enrollment in a course that a student failed
  • Seniors who must enroll in a course to meet college entrance requirements. Students will need to provide documentation for the change to be considered for approval.

Requests MUST be made on the Schedule Change Request Form only. There will NOT be an August schedule change day as in years past. This will be replaced with all requests being made via the Schedule Change Request Form and allowing counselors the time to work through these requests more efficiently.

If you have specific questions or concerns please reach out to your individual school counselor.
