Announcements: Tuesday, May 16, 2023 A Day

A member of the Iowa Department of Human Rights will be here on Wednesday, May 17 during Power Hour (11:20 am - 12:20 pm) in the auditorium lobby. They are currently accepting applications for two of their youth initiatives: Iowa Youth Congress and the State of Iowa Youth Advisory Council. The Iowa Youth Council empowers youth from across the state to learn and use the legislative process to create change for young people in Iowa. Members from diverse backgrounds will learn about state and local government, advocacy and civic engagement and strengthen their skills in public speaking, problem-solving, communication and civil discourse. The Council is modeled after the Iowa House of Representatives and accepts up to 100 high school aged participants. The State of Iowa Youth Advisory Council is a group of 21 youth, ages 14-20, from across the state of Iowa. Their main objective is to inform the Governor, general assembly and other policy / decision makers on issues youth face within the state and solutions to those issues. Members conduct research, draft documents and resources. Their goal is to help as many young people as possible know about state-level opportunities available to students. These programs exist to ensure youth partnership in state-level decision-making and to ensure greater representation in state government short and long term. Interested students can apply here: bit.ly/IowaYouthCongress2023. All youth are welcome! To learn more, please stop by to speak to the representative on Wednesday during Power Hour in the auditorium lobby!

Seniors, it is almost time to transfer your school Google Drive and Gmail account over to a personal account. Take some time to clean out your drive before you do this. Start deleting old files and gmails you don't want to keep. This may take some time, so start early and do a little every day. See the Class of 2023 page in Schoology for instructions on how to transfer your Drive to your personal account or see Mrs. Hendrickson in the library for help.

Attention Men's Golfers: If you plan to go out for golf next fall it would be an excellent idea for you to attend a meeting during the 2nd shift of Power Hour on Wednesday, May 17 in Room 254, Coach Longnecker's room. If you cannot attend, be sure to contact Coach Longnecker prior to the end of the school year.

Attention All Seniors: Another reminder! We want to pronounce your first, middle, and last name correctly during Commencement. Use the Flipgrid link on Schoology (https://flip.com/3bbc0cb0) to record how you would like your name read and pronounced at Commencement. Please be as clear as possible. REMEMBER to include your FIRST, MIDDLE, and LAST name in your recording AND in the video title. Your name recording is due by Thursday, May 18!
