As we continue to honor Black History month, we will share a quote by Frederick Douglass: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”
Student Senate would love to help you make this Valentine's Day Special. If you would be interested in purchasing a rose this Valentines day to give to a friend or special someone, please fill out the form on Schoology. All proceeds will be going to Eli Flint and his family and he continues to fight his battle against cancer.
Attention seniors: Graduation is only a few months away, and we need your help selecting a senior class speaker. Today is the LAST day to nominate either yourself or a peer for the honor of representing your class at commencement. You can find the nomination form on your Senior class Schoology page. A hard copy must be submitted to Ms. Anderson by the end of the day today.
Sophomores and Juniors: If you like working as a team, solving problems, thinking for yourself and developing as a professional, then you should join CAPS Solutions because this class immerses you into the real world and lets you develop and use these skills while networking with professionals.
Girls interested in going out for golf this spring: There will be a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, February 15th during the 1st shift of Power Hour in room 148 (Mr. VanCleve's room).
If you are interested in learning more about being part of the Men's Rugby team, there will be a informational meeting on February 9th immediately following school in Room 34.
A representative from the United States Marines will be here on Wednesday, Feb 9th at 10:30 am and also a representative from Winona State University will be available via Zoom. Also, a representative from the Airforce will be here on Thursday, February 10 at 9:40 am. Interested students should sign up on Schoology.
Follow the Tigers: Girls' and Boys' JV and Varsity Bowling meets will begin at 3:00 pm at Cherry Lanes in Dubuque; Girls' JV 1 Basketball game will begin 6:00 pm, followed by the Varsity at Waterloo East; Boys' Sophomore Basketball game will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by the Varsity at 7:30 pm at CFHS; SATURDAY: Boys' Varsity Swimming District meet will begin at 10:00 am at Dubuque Hempstead; JV Wrestling MCV Meet will begin at 9:30 am at Western Dubuque; Girls' JV 1 Basketball game will begin at 2:00pm, followed by the Varsity at 3:30 pm at CFHS; A Speech event will begin at 8:00 am in Decorah; the CFHS Jazz show will begin at 7:30 pm in the high school auditorium.
REMINDERS: JUNIORS and SOPHOMORES! It is time to get ready for scheduling classes for 2022-23. The school counselors will be in English classes for juniors on Tuesday. February 8th and Social Studies classes for sophomores on Wednesday. February 9th to give you more information and have you put your requests in Power School. School counselors will be meeting individually with each student after next week to finalize your requests. Please be prepared for when we come to your classes with questions. Unfortunately, we do not have time to meet with everyone before next week, so please be prepared for your individual meetings and we will get everything taken care of for your schedule.
Any 10th or 11th graders interested in auditioning for Concert Choir for next school year, please sign up on the schedule outside of the choir room. If you have any questions ask Mr. Kranz or see a current choir member.
