Congratulations to our large group speech team! After a successful, high-achieving day of personal bests at the State contest on Saturday, we ended the large group season on a high: one-act play was nominated to perform at the all-state festival. They were one of only eight one-act plays across the state, in all classes that achieved this honor, placing Cedar Falls in the top fraction of a percent of all teams. The one-act cast will take their show, which they wrote themselves, to the All-State speech Festival in Ames on February 22nd.

The Cedar Falls Lions Club is seeking nominations for an exceptional educator This is a teacher who goes above and beyond to create opportunities for student growth and promotes a spirit of life-long learning. The recipient of this award will receive $500.00 and a plaque recognizing him/her as the Cedar Falls Lions Club Outstanding Educator of the Year. Submit your nomination at www.cedarfallslions.com, or pick up a form in the main office. Nomination deadline is March 1, 2020.

Junior Leadership: We will be meeting TODAY during the 2nd shift of Power Hour in Rm 160 to discuss a theme for prom.

The Accuplacer test will be offered on Monday, February 17th at 8:15 a.m. in the library. Please sign up on Schoology. Students need the Accuplacer or ACT scores to sign up for Composition I, Introduction to Statistics, Math for Liberal Arts or Introduction to Computers.

Boys Rugby: there will be an informational meeting TODAY after school in the Art room (rm 34) at 3:05 pm.

A representative from the Air National Guard will be here to speak with interested students on Wednesday, February 19 at 10:30 am. Interested students can sign up through Schoology or in Counseling office.

Follow the Tigers: Varsity Wrestling Regionals will begin at 6:00 pm at Fort Dodge High School.

REMINDERS:

Girls interested in going out for golf this year: There will be a mandatory meeting this Friday, 2/14, in room 106 during 1st shift Power Hour. Coach Youngkent will get information from you as well as share season information and details. You'll also get first look at apparel and a chance to order before the season. If you a conflict, please talk with Coach Youngkent BEFORE Friday.

Softball players: The indoor hitting facility will be open on Mon. & Wed. beginning 2/26 (that's a Wed.) 4:30-6 pm. Mondays will be open 5-6:30 pm. That is for girls grades 8-12 that plan to play HS softball this summer.

Softball: The workout day for Pitchers & Catchers has been changed to Monday mornings from 7:30-8:45 at Peet Jr. High. Our 1st mtg day will be Feb 17. Feel free to contact Coach Chidester with questions or concerns.
