Cedar Falls High School Bulletin for Wednesday, December 04, 2019

Announcements: Wednesday, December 4, 2019 A Day

Today is the 4th day of the December E.A.T. challenge and it's all about food! During the holiday we tend to eat a lot of special foods including all types of meat. Producing the meat we eat has very specific impacts on the environment. Meat production uses a large amount of water, and the concentrated waste produced by confined operations often contaminates surface waters as we spread it for fertilizer. Animal waste stored in pits also generates a significant amount of methane, a known greenhouse gas. So, what can you do? Consider meat alternatives such as beans, tofu, lentils, peas, tempeh and nuts for your protein or if that's not for you simply reduce the amount of meat you eat. In the end, we need to produce and eat protein in a sustainable way to feed our ever growing world population.

There will be a bake sale before school on Friday morning in the Tigers Den. Come enjoy delicious baked goods and support the Cedar Falls High School Robotics Team.

REMINDERS: The John Deere Early Talent Program will be here to meet with students interested, in this program on Monday, December 9th during Power Hour. We will meet in the auditorium.
