Announcements: Friday, December 11, 2020 B Day Safety Announcements: [Teachers will review with each of their classes] Safe At School: Emergency Drills Dangerous situations that occur around our school and in our community can be unpredictable, evolve quickly and are often over before law enforcement can arrive. It is hard to prepare ourselves for every dangerous situation because there are so many variables to consider so it is critical that we are always vigilant and prepared. There is nothing more important than the safety of everyone involved in our school community. Take Cover: Tornado Drill Teachers will lead their students to their assigned shelter areas and listen quietly for further instructions. Be sure to take your Classroom's Emergency supply container and as always be prepared to take attendance with your students. Evacuation: Fire Drill Teachers will lead their students out of the building to their designated meeting site then listen quietly for further instructions. Be sure to take your Classroom's Emergency supply container. If we were unable to return to the building, teachers would lead their students to our off-site evacuation site (8th & College). Be prepared to take your student attendance and listen quietly for further instructions including the reunification procedures. Shelter In Place: (Outside doors are locked) Teachers will ensure that their students stay inside their classroom with classes running as usual. The Shelter in Place action is taken when students are required to stay inside the building with the outside doors locked due to a possible disturbance in the area outside of our school building. Listen for other instructions. Dangerous Intruder [Run, Hide, Fight Drill] Students are to listen to their teachers for instructions. Based on what is known from this dangerous intruder situation, determine if life safety is maximized by using the Run or Hide option. We will practice the “Hide” option from our Dangerous Intruder Plan. In the “Hide” option we secure our classroom by: 1st — Lock your classroom door and covering any view into your classroom. [ We will not be barricading our doors as not to risk injury by moving heavy objects that may be difficult to move for an emergency exit.] 2nd — Turn off your classroom lights and silence any electronic devices. Please remain silent, No Talking and take a stance or "Hide" against the wall closest to the exit, out of view of the door. 3rd — Don’t open the door for anyone! Law Enforcement and school officials have keys and will enter the room when it is safe to do so. The “Run” option can be used to get everyone out of danger but this option is dependent on several variables including the location of the Intruder, the distance to your safest exit and the fact that there may be many other students exiting at the same time and blocking your immediate exit. If your teacher were to choose the “Run” option, you should exit the room quickly and leave your personal items behind. Run to safety, typically means using our Fire Drill Exits to our pre-established rally point which for CFHS is at 8th and College Streets. Thank you for your attention during all of our emergency drills. As always, "If you See or Hear something, Say Something!"
