How do I change my network or windows password?

After logging in, press the Ctrl, Alt, Del keys simultaneously. Choose “Change Password”. type your current password and then type the password you wish to change it to. The password must meet the following complexity requirements:

  • It can not be a password you have used in the past 24 password changes.
  • You may not change your password more than once in a 24 hour period.
  • It can not contain you user account or name.
  • It must have at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and a number or symbol
  • It must be at least 8 characters long.

How can I tell which wireless network I am connected to?

On the bottom, right-hand side of your computer screen, you will see the icon for your wireless connection in the Task Bar. Click on the icon and a pop-up window will reveal what networks your computer is seeing. The one that is highlighted or checked is the one your are currently connected to.

Google

I am not receiving email sent to the Google group of which I am a member. What should I do?

The first thing you should do is check under “Spam”. If the “lost” emails are there, open and click the “Not Spam” button. They will move from the “Spam” label into your inbox. This will tell Google to put the emails in your “Inbox” instead of “Spam”.

Is it possible to recover an email that was put into trash last year?

No. Items in trash are only kept for 30 days before they are permanently deleted.

How do I prevent email addressed to my building’s staff group from going into spam?

  1. Create a filter so any email received from @cfschools.org will not be considered spam.
  2. Click the “gear” button.
  3. Select “settings”.
  4. Click the “filters” tab.
  5. Click the “create new filter” link at the bottom of the filters page.
  6. In the “from” field enter @cfschools.org.
  7. Click the “create filter with this search” link.
  8. Checkmark the “never send to spam” option.
  9. Check mark “Also apply to ___ matching conversations.
  10. Click “Create Filter”.

I would like to receive and email when anyone updates a Google spreadsheet that I have shared. Is this possible?

Open the Google spreadsheet that you have shared. Click “Tools”, select “Notification Rules”. Select when you would like to receive a notification. you can choose from “Any changes are made”, “Anything on this sheet is changed:”, “Any of these cells are changed:”, “Collaborators are added or removed: or “A user submits a form”. Finally, choose how you would like to be notified. you can choose “Email-daily digest” (an email will be sent at the end of the day) or “Email-right away” (you receive an email each time a change has been made).

Printing

Whenever I print, the printer that I want to print to is not the printer that is the default printer. How do I choose I different printer?

Click the “Start” button. Click “Devices and Printers” from the right hand side of the Start menu. Find that printer that you would like to make your default printer. Right click on the icon for that printer. Click “set as default printer”. You will see a check mark next to the printer that is now the default. Close the “Devices and Printers” window.

When I try to print, I don’t see the printer I need. How do I install another printer?

Using Internet Explorer (other browsers will NOT work for this), click the following http://cfstaffprint/printers. Select the printer that you need to install by clicking on it. Click the “Connect” link that can be found under the “Printer Actions” section. The printer is now installed.
