We are excited for the 2023-24 school year and look forward to a great year. Please review the following information so that you are prepared for our first day of school on Wednesday, August 23.

Student Schedule:

Student schedules are visable on parent and student PowerSchool portals. Please have your student review the following on their schedule:

  • Semester 1 courses and room numbers
  • Student ID# - will be used at lunch if the student does not have their ID.
  • Please note whether your student has PE on an A day or B day 
    • B day PE students will take pictures in PE class on Thursday, August 24

    • A day PE students will take pictures in PE classes on Friday, August 25

A/B Day School Calendar 

First Days of School:

Wednesday, August 23: Transition Morning for 7th grade and new 8th and 9th grade students 

7th grade and new 8th & 9th grade bus riders: students will ride the normal Tuesday - Friday bus schedule if students plan to ride the bus on the first day of school.

  • 7:45 Students check-in at the front of the building to pick-up name tag with Transition Day Teacher listed. Then report to the cafeteria.

  • 8:00 7th grade and new 8th and 9th grade students report to their Transition Day Activity Group listed on their name tag. They will then start Transition Day Activities.

Returning 8th and 9th grade bus riders: students will ride the normal Monday bus schedule if students plan to ride the bus on the first day of school.

  • 9:15 - Returning 8th and 9th grade students report to Peet to organize locker and prepare for classes.

  • 9:30 - All students report to period 1 and will go through a Monday bell schedule for classes.

  • 3:00 - All student dismissed

Students who have classes at Holmes or Cedar Falls High School, you will receive a separate email regarding the first day of school schedule and bus information.

High School/Holmes Bus Schedule 

  • For students who have classes at CFHS or Holmes throughout the day.
    • The bus schedule and information will be emailed to students and parents by Friday, August 18.
    • Orchestra 9 will be at Holmes Jr High 1st period on A days.
    • Changes to this schedule throughout the school year will be communicated to students via email and posted on Schoology.

Backpacks:

Students will have the option to carry a backpack if they wish to do so. Every student will also be assigned a locker for storing personal items and school utensils. Students will be able to access their locker during passing time in between periods. 

Lunch Shifts:

We will have 3 lunch shifts for the 2023-24 school year. Attached are the lunch shifts for this school year. Students will eat lunch during their 4th period class. Example: If your student has Mr. Green for period 4, they will eat “A” lunch.

School Pictures:

Don’t forget school pictures will take place on Thursday, August 24 & Friday, August 25 in PE classes.  Every student will have their photo taken regardless of purchase, for school records, ID cards and yearbooks. HR Imaging will mail picture order forms to student homes or you can order online. Order School Photos HERE

Busing Questions:

2023-24 Bus routes have been posted on the Transportation website.  The bus lists are sorted by school name, student grade and student ID#. Once the student ID# is identified, it will list the bus number, bus stop and bus pick up time assigned. Please allow 5 minutes either way of the times shown for the bus stop.  If you do not see your student’s student ID#, please contact bailey.kohls@cfschools.org or (319)553-2458. If you do see your students ID# and they will not need transportation, please contact bailey.kohls@cfschools.org or (319)553-2458.

If you have questions regarding school busing to and from school, please call the bus garage at (319)553-2458.

A transportation request form must have been filled-out for any student who will need busing for the 2023-24 school year. This form is already closed. If you did not get the form filled-out, please call the bus garage at (319)553-2458. Transportation is free for junior high students (7-9) that live more than two miles from their resident school. These distances are determined by the Cedar Falls Transportation Department. Students who live under 2 miles will be paying riders. Students can purchase a bus pass with the Peet Bookkeeper at the beginning of each month. Monthly bus fees can be found on the transportation website.

Parents/Guardians of open enrolled students are responsible for their student(s) transportation.

Parent/Guardian of Rules Exception students are responsible for their student(s) transportation.

After School Activity Bus #20 

  • This bus will bring students to the high school and Holmes for after school activities.

Paying Fees:

Fees are now posted online and may be paid through your Parent Portal by clicking on the "Balance" tab on the left side of your navigation menu. Fees can also be paid through the Tiger Web Store which uses the RevTrak system.  This is the same system that is used for depositing lunch money.  You would just click on the School Fees and Fines and log in with your PowerSchool log-in information. Once you get logged in to see your student(s) current fees, you will need to add each fee to the cart. You may proceed to check out after items have been added to your cart, you will need to log in with your RevTrak password.  If you are unsure what your password is for RevTrak, you may click the "Forgot Password" here and enter your email address and RevTrak will send you the information.

Fees include:

  • $63 - Registration Fee - Required
  • $15 - Yearbook - OPTIONAL
  • Any unpaid fees/fines from previous school years

This is more than a meal application. The free and reduced meal application helps in many ways. Just one application could impact your student(s) registration and book fees, driver’s education and school meals. Any questions, please call Deana Owens at (319)553-2451.

Supply List:

A list of recommended school supplies has been added to our Peet Website. In addition, many local stores have the supply list posted for your reference. Teachers will also share specific needs on the first day of classes.

  • Students will be changing for Physical Education. The physical education attire will consist of a white shirt and red shorts, sweat socks that extend over the shoe tops, and a pair of appropriate non-marking gym shoes. The recommended PEET gym shirt and shorts can be purchased at Iowa Sports Supply (3121 Capital Way, Cedar Falls). Returning students may wear previously purchased P.E. shirt and shorts. 

Vaccination Reminder for 7th graders:

Reminder to parents: All incoming 7th grade students must have the 1st dose of Meningitis vaccination before they are allowed to start school. They are also required to get the Tdap shot. Please visit with your students' medical provider as soon as possible to make sure you have time to get them in. If you don't have a medical provider please email Kerri Clausman the Peet Junior High School nurse kerri.clausman@cfschools.org

9th Grade Dental Forms:

All 9th grade students will need to turn-in a dental screening form within the first 60 days of school.  Forms can be found at this link: DENTAL FORM, or by calling your dentist and asking them to fax or email a copy of your students "Iowa Department of Public Health Certificate of Dental Screening" from their last dental visit.  Forms can be emailed to: betsy.schmitz@cfschools.orgkerri.clausman@cfschools.org, faxed to Peet at 319-266-8839 or turned into the health office once school has started.

School Hours and Student Drop-Off:

The school day for Peet Jr High begins at 8:00am on Tuesday-Friday and 9:30am on Monday and ends at 3:00pm.  Please do not drop off students before 7:45am, unless they ride the school bus or are eating breakfast. We will be allowing students into the hallways starting at 7:45am Tuesday-Friday and 9:15am on Monday. Students will be able to drop personal items off at their locker and report to period 1 or to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast. Students who are not participating in an after school activity will be expected to either be picked up, on the bus or walking home by 3:10pm.

Early Dismissal Days - Sack Lunch Order Form… Order NOW!

Peet will have early dismissal on the following days. Classes will run from 8:00am until 11:15am. Sack lunches can be ordered on the following link for those days. If a lunch is ordered for your student, they will pick it up in the cafeteria before dismissal.  Lunch Order Form for Early Dismissals

Street Closure:

The intersection of Seerley Blvd and Main Street is under construction.  If you normally would come to school through that intersection, you will need to find an alternate route.
