Recycled School Supplies

At the end of the school year, one of the traditions at Holmes Jr. High is that the students recycle their left over school supplies (if they aren't taking them home to use next year.)  Eight tightly packed boxes of supplies were donated to the Boys and Girls Club in Waterloo.  Pictured is Kali and Makayla sorting the supplies.  They volunteered two of their study halls to help with this project.

Next week we will continue to raise funds for our playground installation with Pocket Change For The Playground. Our goal is to have our students donate pocket change to help with the costs of this project. Each classroom will have a collection bucket with totals being posted on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The top class will earn a picnic lunch! Our school goal is to raise $1000, which we will celebrate with a pajama day!

Kindness in Chalk Day

On Oct 11th Cedar Heights celebrated 'Kindness in Chalk' day.  Student council sponsored this day to promote kindness and remind students of our expectations at Cedar Heights.  We decorated the front sidewalks with many uplifting and positive messages to greet the students as they came in.  We also provided chalk for each grade level so students could add their own messages to the rest of the sidewalks during recess time.

Lincoln Gardens Donate to the Food Bank!

Our Lincoln gardens have been productive this summer! Due to a combination of warm weather and daily watering, we are seeing a large yield. Our green beans were ready to be picked and one of our valued Lincoln families volunteered to help pick them. As we didn't want to waste this fresh produce with our students enjoying summer break, these helpers donated 18 pounds of green beans to the Food Bank! Wow! This is a true win-win for our community and school!
