Thanks to Pack 179 for replacing our garden beds! They spent Saturday morning working at Lincoln to replace 1/2 of our garden beds. We use our gardens to support our fall Farm To School servings. We are hopeful that we will also be able to use produce for the salad bar offered during our lunches. Many of our students and their families visited North Cedar for Literacy Night on Tuesday, September 19th.  The students met with their classroom teachers to complete student-friendly activities focused on growth mindset, while parents listened to a reading and growth mindset presentation by our reading teachers.  A book swap, a "nest" themed artwork activity, and snacks were enjoyed by all.

Lincoln Donates To The UNI Dance Marathon!

Lincoln students and staff have a heart for giving! Each year, we hold a mini dance marathon to support Iowa Children's Hospitals and Clinics. This year, we had three students step forward to help us raise funds to donate. In addition to selling hearts around Valentine's Day for $1 each, we asked students to donate .25 cents for each book they read this fall. UNI Student Trombone Quartet Collaborates with 6th Grade Band

Farm To School Taste Testing

Lincoln students had the opportunity to taste test for a potential alternate lunch option. Thanks to our Farm To School volunteers, students had the chance to sample yogurt parfaits containing yogurt, granola and different fruits (mango and strawberry). A Kindergarten Celebration!

I love a parade!  Mrs. Klein's kindergarten class held a Favorite Storybook parade today as a celebration of the hard work they have been doing in Reader's Workshop!  We remembered the strategies we have learned and practiced to get to this point and boy do we have a lot of posters to refer to!  I have told them how proud of them I am so many times, they are telling me, "here she goes again!"  Keep up the great work Super Readers!

Farm To School Is A Win-Win!

Our Farm To School program is an excellent example of a win-win! This program provides servings of locally sourced fresh fruits and vegetables to our students.
