A Message From Food Service:

The goal of the Cedar Falls Community Schools Food Service and Nutrition Department is to plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals according to the guidelines and requirements of the United States Department of Agriculture National School Lunch Program.

Effective January 3, 2018, the Food Service and Nutrition Department will offer two main entrées daily for grades K - 6. These two choices will comprise of two different hot entrees along with the other components of a balanced reimbursable meal.  The first or main choice will be offered on six week cycle menu; whereas, the second or alternate choice will be a different option for each day of the week and will be the same each week.

Students may choose the main or alternate choice during the morning lunch count. Students who are tardy (arrive past school start time) will automatically be assigned to receive the alternate choice.  Students will not be allowed to switch entrée choices after the morning lunch count has been taken.

As a reminder, students who need a meal accommodation based on medical circumstances are required to have a medical statement form completed.  If you have any questions, please contact Vicky Ecker, Food Service Supervisor at 319-553-2460 or the Food Service and Nutrition Office at 319-553-2451.

A Message from the District regarding Nursing Services:

As of January 1, 2018, the nurses and health assistants in the District will now be provided by Covenant Clinic. This past summer the Black Hawk County Health Department notified the District they could no longer provide nursing services. Various options were explored, with a focus on the best way to continue the coverage and services provided throughout our District. Covenant Clinic was chosen as the provider.

“We are pleased to partner with the District to provide ongoing health care to students in the district," said Mark Wall, director of Covenant Clinic. "The students will recognize many of the nurses and health assistants who have provided, and will continue to provide, exceptional care while in school."

“We are very pleased that Covenant Clinic will be providing the nurses and health assistants in Cedar Falls Schools. Our main goal is to continue to provide excellent nursing care to our students and we are able to do that with Covenant Clinic,” said Dr. Andy Pattee, Superintendent, Cedar Falls Schools.

Important Information to Note

What is changing?

  • The nurses will now be provided by Covenant Clinic instead of Black Hawk County Public Health.

What is staying the same?

  • The majority of nurses and health assistants have worked with students over the years.

  • The nurses’ schedules and coverage.

  • The services and care provided by the nurses and health assistants.

  • All will continue as normal with no change in schedules or services.

Parents/guardians that have questions or concerns, please contact Pam Zeigler, Director of Elementary Education, at Pam.Zeigler@cfschools.org or 319-553-3000.
