PALS Family Event- Please join us Friday, Dec. 9th at 6:00 PM in our Cafeteria for our free family movie The Secret Life of Pets. To celebrate our own pets, we will be raising money for The Cedar Bend Humane society. Starting Monday, Dec. 5th, students are invited to bring in a picture of their own pet to school and for a $1 donation it will be displayed in the main hallway. A table will be set up each morning before school to accept pictures. Cash and pet food donations will also be accepted at movie night.

PALS' December Winter Weather Clothing Drive is now accepting children's gently used clothing including coats, snow pants, boots, mittens, sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans, etc. Please feel free to drop off items in the blue tote in the entrance of Lincoln Elementary! Thank you! These items will be available during our PALS Family Event on December 9th.

The annual Lincoln Winter Food Drive begins December 8 and runs through December 21.  Our goal this year is 10,000 food items.  Besides actual food items, you might consider the fact that $1.00 is equal to 4 food items.  If you write a check, please make it out to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.  Students should bring their donations to their classrooms.  Items will be picked up from classrooms on December 21 after school.  For safety reasons, we ask that no food items in glass containers are sent to school.

The 5/6 grade chorus will give a concert at the Methodist Church across the street on Thursday, December 8 at 12:30. Parents are welcome to attend, the concert is in their sanctuary. Students will wear regular school clothes but can spice it up with any holiday attire they want (reindeer antlers, santa hat, etc.)

Just a friendly reminder regarding dismissal changes: Please ensure you have a plan with your children before they arrive at school during the day. If you need to make a change, please notify both your child’s teacher and the office prior to 3:15 (1:15 on Wednesdays). If you contact the school after that time we may be unable to honor your request.

As we head into December and the weather is getting colder here are a few reminders:

- Our goal is to have our students outside for recess as much as weather conditions allow during the school year; not raining and above zero. Please ensure students have dressed appropriately including a coat, boots, hats and gloves when heading out the door. When there is snow on the ground we ask that snowpants be worn to prevent wet clothing. The nurse has very limited supply of items to accommodate students who do not dress for the weather and we do not have the space available to have students who forgot these items to remain indoors. Students will head outside in what they are wearing. Thank you for your help!

 - If it is raining or the temperature/wind chill is 0 or below, we will open our doors to families at 3:40 (or 1:45). We will ask that Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade families come inside and pick up their students at the East playground doors. Our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade families are welcome to come inside the 8th Street entrance and meet students near the Office. Please note that when we move pickup inside, students will only be released from these locations. We will continue to have our Safety Patrol students support crossing.
