Counseling

School is closed today.

The Counseling Program at North Cedar Elementary is part of the total school program and complements learning in the classroom. It is child-centered, preventative, and developmental. The program encourages students' social, emotional, and personal growth at each stage of their development so that they may achieve academic success.

The counseling program supports the mission of the Cedar Falls Community Schools which is to educate each student to be a lifelong learner and a caring responsible citizen.

The purpose of the program is to address the developmental needs of all students, as well as, provide additional support to students with specific needs.

Counselors' Role in the Schools
The counselor works with students in many different ways. The counselor teaches classroom lessons; facilitates small groups; counsels individuals; consults with parents, teachers, and other professionals; and coordinates many student and family services within the school. School counselors are also a valuable resource for parents and can help families make contacts with organizations within the community.

Your School Counselor
Your school counselor is here to help all students. Our comprehensive program is aligned with the American School Counselor Association’s National Model. We help students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to be successful in school and in life. We do this by meeting the needs of diverse learners in collaborative, proactive, and responsive ways.
