North Cedar Elementary
Welcome to North Cedar Elementary School! It is a privilege to work in partnership with students and their families as we develop young leaders who achieve at high levels. It is our goal to teach the whole child; not just the child who learns to read, write, and solve math problems. While academics are vitally important to everyone, we believe that teaching students how to work together, think critically, and problem solve are even more important skills to develop. We are a PK-6 elementary school in the northern area of Cedar Falls. with approximately 280 students. We have two sections of each grade level, with the exception of our preschool room, and we really function as a big family. Family and community partnerships are very important to us, and we hope you feel that sense of togetherness as you become part of our school. Our staff cares deeply for all children, and we work extremely hard each day to give each child what they need to be successful. Please visit North Cedar to experience all the great things going on here!
In addition, there are two full time Title 1 reading teachers, four special education teachers, a full time teacher librarian, and a full time counselor. Our preschool program serves four year olds.
A Parent Teacher Organization provides support to the students and teachers. We have a before and after school program supported by theYWCA. North Cedar has several Partners in Education who are willing supporters of all we do: Cedar Falls Real Estate, Viking Pump, Scheels, Cedarloo Family Practice, Amvets Post 49, and Texas Roadhouse.
Parking at North Cedar - Our neighbors, the Cedar Bible Church, have had to post, per their liability insurance carrier, that their parking lot is a No Trespassing zone. Because they are unable to purchase additional liability coverage for public use, ONLY CEDAR FALLS SCHOOLS EMPLOYEES will be able to park in their lot (since the district has liability insurance for employees). As staff members at North Cedar, we will do our best to fill the church lot first in the mornings so that more parking will be available to you on Green Avenue and Fern Avenue. Parents, families, and friends will no longer be able to use the parking lot for any transportation—i.e. using the lot as a “pass through” to pick up or drop off students. We have been alerted that trespassers will be subject to having vehicles towed at their expense. Thank you for your cooperation. Cedar Bible Church has always been a very gracious neighbor, and we will do our best to assist them in their request.
