Farm To School Is A Win-Win!
Our Farm To School program is an excellent example of a win-win! This program provides servings of locally sourced fresh fruits and vegetables to our students. We focus on serving to each grade twice in the Fall and again in the Spring. This Fall will include a serving of tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers and kale. We have also partnered with the UNI Public Health Department over the past two years to work with UNI students. They help present education by creating newsletters we share with our families and short presentations for our students. Last, our students have helped to source this program through plantings in our school gardens, providing both tomatoes, carrots and green beans. This program has been a huge benefit to our school community through the chance to provide healthy options to students through serving and education. A special thanks to the tireless efforts of the volunteers who support this amazing work!
