Students are to leave the playground after school is dismissed at 3:45 (1:50 on Wednesdays) and remain off the playground until 4:15 p.m. We do not have staff members available to supervise the playground during the time teachers are officially on duty. This is a district policy, please see page 4 of theDistrict Handbook. We still have several students that hang around on the playground after the bell rings; if you have children that are staying to play after school you must be present to supervise.  If you are unable to pick up your child at 3:45 (1:50 on Wednesday) please seek alternative means for their dismissal. The school is not responsible for before/after school care. If you need before/after school care please email or call the office and we can provide a list of providers that transport to/from Lincoln.

Celebrate Red Ribbon Week – October 24th-28th! Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation.  Our RRW theme in Cedar Falls this year is “Rock the Red!”  We will focus on making healthy choices through a variety of classroom lessons and school wide activities.  This year, we will have several “special days” to remind students of the importance of making healthy choices.

October 24th –“Put a Cap on Drugs” – students may wear hats in school

October 25th – “Sock it to Drugs Day” – wear crazy/mismatched socks

October 26th – “Chews to be Drug Free” – students may bring gum to school

October 27th – “Rock out a Healthy Lifestyle” – students may dress like a rock star

October 28th – “Rock the Red Day” – wear red/CF colors to show school pride

As the weather is starting to get colder please make sure that your children are sent to school with proper outdoor attire (coat, hat, gloves, etc.). The weather changes frequently and we would like our students to be outside as much as possible. Students will be expected to go outside for recess in what they come dressed in.

Halloween Parade and classroom parties: On Monday, October 31st, Lincoln will have our Halloween parade and parties. We will begin at 2:30 PM. We encourage students in grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade to bring their costumes to change shortly before our parade. We will parade outside the school (weather permitting) for our 5th and 6th Grade Students as well as our Lincoln families. Following this parade, we will have classroom parties. You are welcome to join us for our parade at the end of the day. We ask that students who dress in costumes do not bring any part of their costume that may look like a weapon or could be scary for our students. As our community has recently had a clown scare, we will not permit any clown costumes. Thank you!

The book fair is coming to Lincoln November 14-17, and we need lots of volunteers to help! You can sign up online by going to or by clicking the link on the library's website.

Just another reminder that Lost & Found items will be donated on the 1st of each month. Please make sure to check for missing items before they are gone!

Tiger Bucks: Your child will be bringing home an order form for Tiger Bucks, if they haven't already. This is a fundraiser for our school in which you can purchase gift cards for places you already use, and then use them at those places instead of cash or credit and then for each gift card you purchase from us, the individual companies give us a portion of their sales. So, you can purchase a $20 gift card for $20, but we would get anywhere from 3-20% of that purchase.  It's a win-win!  Take a look at the attached video that explains it a little more! And as always, let me know if you have questions!

The Tiger Bucks order forms are due back by the 1st. If you aren’t ordering please return the unused form to the school so we may use them again.

Girl Scout Troop 6167 would like to invite 2nd and 3rd grade girls to join our troop. We are activity-based, meaning that we do not meet on a set day and location. We have a private Facebook page that lists event invitations that you can attend based on your schedule. Most events earn a patch. We do not push a large time commitment nor sales quotas. Call the Waterloo Girl Scouts office at 319-232-6601 and ask for Troop 6167.  The office will also have information on other age groups that meet in the area.
