As an intro, they organized student's favorite foods into periodic tables to discuss how the real periodic table is organized.   They learned that trying to organize 118 elements must have been more challenging and that most of the students favorite foods are junk foods!

Drummers Visit 5th Grade

Several percussionists from the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra visited the 5th grade classes in November.  Students enjoyed the music and information the performers shared with them.  The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra reaches out to area classrooms in order to give students exposure to different types and styles of music.

Let the Games Begin!

Let the games begin!  During the first two weeks of school North Cedar Elementary P.E. students along with their teacher, Mr. Cross, celebrated the recent 2017 Summer Olympics by conducting their own version of the olympic games.  Students competed in a variety of track and field events along with a few other creative games including “swimming” and “rowing” on scooters, “torch” relays and “water polo”.

Help from Home Depot

When the second grade teachers at Lincoln Elementary School needed materials for their new STEM unit 'Ramps & Pathways' the folks at Home Depot stepped in to help!  The Waterloo Home Depot provided a huge discount on the cove molding that was essential for the unit.  In addition to the financial assistance, they also cut the wood into the specific sizes needed for this learning opportunity.
