6th Grade Students Perform at Opus

Maya Potter and Melia Stone were selected to perform with the Opus Honor Choir in Ames, Iowa on November 16, 2017.  Both students enjoyed their experience.  Maya appreciated meeting so many new, different people and Melia felt the opportunity reminded her to be herself, stay positive, and keep trying.  Great job!

North Cedar's First Lego League team competed on Saturday, December 2nd.  They did so well, they are advancing to the state competition in January.  The Lego League contest consists of 4 components.  Students earn points for each component.The Robot Run is where the team runs their robot through a pre-designed course.Robot Design is when the team shows off their robot and its capabilities one on one with the judge.Project Design is when the team creates a project and presents it to the jud [...]

The spring musical opens this week! Don't miss the hilarious and moving Shrek: The Musical. Performance dates are Friday, March 3rd and Saturday, March 4th. The show starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are $8 for students and $9 for adults and can be purchased in the main office or at the door.  No passes will be accepted including Golden Age and Student Activity passes.

The Nuclear Nerds Move On To State!

Congrats to the Nuclear Nerds! They were selected to move on to the state competition in Ames on January 14, 2017. For those who have not had a chance to experience Lego League, it is much more than building with Legos! It involves computer programming to make a robot complete a mission on a large wooden surface. Join Us for The Secret Life Of Pets And Helping Pets!

Please join us Friday, December 9th at 6 PM for our Family Movie Night. We will enjoy The Secret Life Of Pets. During the week, we will celebrate our own pets by raising money for The Cedar Bend Humane society. Starting Monday, Dec. 5th, students are invited to bring in a picture of their own pet to school and for a $1 donation it will be displayed in the main hallway. Thanks Northside Orchestra For A Wonderful Performance!

What an amazing performance! Our Northside Orchestra, made up of students from North Cedar, Orchard Hill, Hansen and Lincoln, treated us to a concert dedicated to their peer, recovering from medical difficulties. They were also joined by Professor Sprau with a triangle solo. Thank you to our families for their support of our students and to Mrs. Busch for leading them in their learning.

Our November Student Jobs Rally Was A Success!

One of our goals at Lincoln is to involve students in our school though jobs. We have committed to holding a job rally each month to involve as many of our 3rd-6th grade student leaders. We started this journey in October and today these student leaders trained our next round of students. We are excited to continue this journey and provide learning in addition to classroom skills.

Walk to School Day

Holmes Students Participate in All-Iowa Eighth Grade State Honor Band

Congratulations to Holmes band students Megan Smith, David Butler, Christopher Sell and Emma Cryer on their acceptance into the 2016 All-Iowa Eighth Grade State Honor Band. More than 250 students competed at the district level for one of the 22 spots from the Northeast district of Iowa. The students performed at the state convention in May, including a premiere piece written in their honor and conducted by the composer.
