What is IMPACT?

IMPACT isn’t a what, it’s a who! Involved Motivated Parents And Caring Teachers is Southdale's parent teacher organization. IMPACT’s goal is to support the Southdale community.

How Do We Make An IMPACT?

Teachers receive a stipend each year to enrich their classrooms. We also purchase new books for classrooms at our book fairs. Other recent purchases include:

Pocket ESL Translators for students
Butterfly Lifecycle Starter Kits for 2nd Grade
5th/6th Grade Dance
95% Phonics Materials
Outdoor Shed for Pre-K
Southdale Social

We love sponsoring the yearbook, safety patrol, and family movie nights. We also provide our teachers much deserved snacks and meals during conferences and for various holidays. Telling teachers “Thank You” and appreciating them throughout the year is an easy and fun job to do. 

How We Raise Funds

Each year brings new fundraising ideas. Recently, we started the Hocus Pocus Challenge which we will continue to grow and implement yearly! We are also very excited to announce that we will be bringing back the Southdale Carnival this 2023-24 School year. Date and details to come!

Other fundraisers include Read-a-Thons, Spirit Wear Sales, and Family Night(s) out at Local Restaurants. Our goal moving forward is to continue finding ways to raise funds that are effective and engaging for our Southdale Families. We are always looking for fresh ideas so don’t be shy about sharing yours!

In addition, with your help, we collect funds through Hy-Vee Receipts ($3,000/year). Yes, all those receipts really add up! This year we have fun Hy Vee receipt bags to help keep you organized for $2. Please collect and turn in your Hy-Vee Receipts and Box Tops to your child’s teacher!

We love new ideas and faces! Join us at one of our monthly meetings, or If you are unable to join a meeting, feel free to email ideas or suggestions for fundraising to us at Southdale.Impact.PTO@gmail.com. Also, throughout the year, we will communicate via emails, Friday Announcements and our Facebook page. Meetings for the 2023-24 School Year

We typically meet the 1st Monday of the month from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. This year, we will hold the meetings at Southdale Elementary in the media room.
