Thank You For The Blanket Donations!

We are thankful for the support of our students, families and local community!  Starting with 288 yards of solid colored fleece, students and families who are members of the  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints created 70 blankets and cards to go along with the blankets. Mile Club is off to a great start! This club is for 3rd-6th grade students who wish to run during lunch recess. The totals are in for the month of September and it appears that 4th Grade Peters' class is in the lead with 110 miles! Lincoln Donates To The UNI Dance Marathon!

Lincoln students and staff have a heart for giving! Each year, we hold a mini dance marathon to support Iowa Children's Hospitals and Clinics. This year, we had three students step forward to help us raise funds to donate. In addition to selling hearts around Valentine's Day for $1 each, we asked students to donate .25 cents for each book they read this fall. The idance is a video game that works the leg muscles and helps to improve cardiovascular endurance. While traditional video games are criticized for encouraging a sedentary lifestyle, the idance does quite the opposite. Students move to the beat of a song while trying to step on arrows in a specific sequence. It’s a great physical activity that is highly motivating and fun!

When the second grade teachers at Lincoln Elementary School needed materials for their new STEM unit 'Ramps & Pathways' the folks at Home Depot stepped in to help!  The Waterloo Home Depot provided a huge discount on the cove molding that was essential for the unit.  In addition to the financial assistance, they also cut the wood into the specific sizes needed for this learning opportunity. Lincoln Gardens Donate to the Food Bank!

Our Lincoln gardens have been productive this summer! Due to a combination of warm weather and daily watering, we are seeing a large yield. Our green beans were ready to be picked and one of our valued Lincoln families volunteered to help pick them. As we didn't want to waste this fresh produce with our students enjoying summer break, these helpers donated 18 pounds of green beans to the Food Bank! Wow! This is a true win-win for our community and school!
